1983 Chevrolet Malibu SS

Up for sale is my 1983 Malibu SS Wagon.I purchased this car back in September to replace a previous 83 Malibu wagon that I had wrecked. Most of the work was done by the former owner, so I will list what I was told about the car, what I have found since owning the wagon, and anything I have rebuilt or replaced since owning it.Only reason for selling is that I just have too many cars right now, and after spending 6 years building my former wagon I have decided it is time to build something else.

Drivetrain- HO 305 V8 pulled from a 1987 Monte Carlo SS.Factory aluminum intake, I had a non-computer quadrajet rebuilt by my friend the Q-jet master, K&N air filter with chrome Chevrolet lid, new billet aluminum HEI distributor, new Taylor 8mm wires, new plugs, was told it has a cam, roller timing chain, and HV oil pump by previous owner.Coated shorty headers into y pipe, through cat delete, then back into dual exhaust exiting behind rear wheel (nice exhaust system!)New belts, hoses, fuel pump, I serviced the AC with new expansion valve, dryer, oil charge and Freon (blows ice cold!)Transmission is a TH200-4R overdrive trans from a 1987 Monte Carlo SS (CRF code) with a mild shift kit (nice firm shifts, but not a neck breaker) and a 2500 stall lockup torque convertor wired correctly with brake and vac switch.I just installed a new gov-lok posi rear with 4:10 gears, new bearings, seals, and axles. This wagon does not leak any fluids and bottom side is completely dry!!

Suspension and Brakes-Front end was rebuilt by previous owner with new ball joints, tie rods, center link, and idler arm.Front and rear Monte SS sway bar, front triangulating bars, and quick 12.7:1 steering box. Also has new Monroe gas shocks at all 4 corners.I installed new Delco professional riveted rear brake shoes, larger Delco wheel cylinders, new brake hardware kit, and new drums.Front brakes were replaced by previous owner with premium pads, rotors, and wheel bearings.Wheels are American Racing Torque Thrust 2 piece rims, they are 16X8s with brand new (less than 100 miles) Cooper 80k mile tires.

Body-The wagon was painted by the previous owner in the mid 90’s using PPG Deltron base/clear in the original color. All the door jams are still the original paint. When I got it there was some bodywork popping up in a few spots (the driver door where they had filled the holes from the original mirror, on the top edge of the passenger rear door, and both d-pillars) so I repaired those spots and sprayed a little color in those areas till I was ready to paint it.Car looks great from about 20 feet, but the color is slightly off and not as shiny when you get up close to it (I tried to get good pics of those spots). You can also just start to see in the right light where they filled the holes for the passenger side mirror, and the roof rack holes.Again, from 20 feet you can’t see any of these spots, but I am picky and you can see the spots if you are up close looking for them, figure you can drive as is for awhile, but car will eventually need paint.Wagon also has front air dam from El camino SS, and late mirrors off 87 Monte SS.It is missing the rear bumper fillers, but I purchased a set of fiberglass replacement corners and an original GM center filler that will go with the car (these will have to be painted). Also there is one dent on the passenger rear door above door handle, and a dent in the rear bumper.

Interior-Inside has been converted correctly to a bucket seat floor shift car by previous owner.I believe the front seats are from an 80’s Mustang and the driver seat bolster is showing some wear. The dash has no cracks and is also from a 1987 Monte SS, it has full gages, 115mph speedo, tachometer, AM/FM radio cassette with eq andauto reverse, and late model dash trim.It has power windows, power vent windows, power locks, driver andpassenger remote mirrors, cruise, and rear hatch release that all work correctly (I put in new front window motors as they were a little slow before).Glass is all in good shape with no scratches or breaks, and new rear window shocks.

So to sum it up this is a very nice driver that can be used as is or spend a little time and it would be a really good start for the ultimate wagon project.I have owned 6 of these g-body wagons so far and this is the nicest I have ever started with.My previous 83 took me 6 years and almost 25k to build and this one could be had for much less than that!It is extremely reliable and I would trust it to drive anywhere. Please take a look at the pics which I think give a very good idea of the car, and if you want to see others, I have many more pics where those came from.Wagon has a clean and clear Florida title, if you have any questions please give me a call at 954-914-8eight6six to discuss.

Thanks for checking out my Malibu SS wagon!!!
