1958 Cadillac DeVille The Legendary Elvis Presley "Pink Cadillac"

1958 Cadillac Sedan DeVille Elvis Presley "Pink Cadillac" being sold at "No Reserve"
I think rare would be an understatement when it comes to finding a car that Elvis Presley actually touched! If you're going to spend the time and money to restore one classic car in your lifetime make sure it's something rare like this classic finned "Pink Cadillac".
If you simply double click on the main picture of the auction page then all 24 pictures will be able to be viewed in the larger size by clicking the arrows on each side of the larger pictures. This is the first time this awesome "Pink Cadillac" has ever been offered to the public on eBay. Actually it's the first time it has been viewed by any public in almost 25 years. I will explain everything I found out from the previous owner at the point of purchase. According to the prior owner of this sweet 1958 "Pink Cadillac" it was purchased brand new by Elvis Presley himself for one of his celebrity friends. He didn't remember which celebrity it was, but he said it was somebody famous. Apparently the elderly gentleman did have the documents to prove this 1958 finned beauty was the 46th car purchased by the King himself, but he had searched for months and months for those documents for me with no luck. Nobody bought Pink Cadillac's back in that era except Elvis, so I tend to believe the story to be factual. I'm sure with today's online resources there has to be a way to do the research or a title search and find those documents once again. The last owner lost the folder that contained the title and the Elvis paperwork somewhere over the past 25 years of his ownership.
Remember a car only comes original once!! This appears to be the original paint from 58 years ago. I saw no signs of this land yacht every being involved in an accident. The Pink paint is just faded. The body looks extremely straight and I believe all of the expensive stainless steel and trim parts to be intact. This mammoth really needs a new owner who knows the value of anything attached to Elvis Presley or someone passionate about classic cars to bring this rare gem back to its former glory. This "Pink Cadillac"was so attached to the King that they used an exact 1958 "Pink Cadillac" like this one in the State Farm commercial on the Vegas strip with all the Elvis impersonators around the same "Pink Cadillac"with a dented right rear quarter panel. I'm sure most lookers in this auction remember that distinct commercial that has been appearing during the past couple years. That's when the flying Elvis came in and the State Farm agent says we've got you covered. Even Bruce Springsteen "The Boss" wrote his infamous "Pink Cadillac"song because of this car. All of these parts can be found in brand new reproduction form at a wide variety of classic car parts suppliers who specialize in Cadillac's. You simply need to own a body to install those easy to obtain parts and the knowledge of the restoration process. This auction is just in time to buy that 1958 Cadillac that you have been needing for parts, or if you wanted to have a cool old antique to restore over the fall and winter months. I have too many projects right now to dedicate the necessary time this "Pink Cadillac" deserves. The prior owner told me that this car had never been in any accidents and I believe him. I scrutinized this entire car and saw no signs of it ever being hit, and believe all of the body panels to be original to this car. The odometer is believed to be original at just over 39,000 miles. The body is very solid from being in storage prior to when I made the purchase about 2 years ago. The hood is the only panel that I would locate another one before starting a restoration. This would be a terrific candidate for making that finned showpiece couch for someone's man cave or the family great room. Naturally I'm a car guy, so that would be sacrilegious, but I've seen them made out of the '58 and '59 models and they do look sweet. The last owner did say that this number's matching engine has not run for close to three decades, so it will need to be gone through. All of the original belts and parts to install on this 365/335 horsepower beast are included on the back seat floor to help make this "Pink Cadillac"road worthy again. The original air conditioning compressor is under the hood off to the passenger side of the radiator. I'm pretty sure all of the air conditioning components are present. It was very rare to have one of these cars ordered with all of these options back then. Especially air conditioning! The options include the original AM radio, power windows, power bench seat, and the list goes on. The radio looks like it has that wonder bar option. I think a true Classic Cadillac guy can see all of the options this one has by the pictures.
This car does not come with a title, but is free and clear of any liens. The winning bidder will receive a Bill of Sale in their name. I know it is relatively easy to obtain a title in many states like Indiana and Georgia. Some states don't even require a title on classic cars over 25 years old anymore. I have heard of an easy way to obtain a clean and clear title in the new owners name through the Broadway Title Co. in Bangor, ME. That can all be done online with a little research. Obtaining a title will be left up to the winning bidder. The original complete cloth and vinyl interior looks to all be intact and really held up very well over the years. The condition of the body and interior really makes me believe that this is a true low mileage car. The headliner looks in nice shape as well. I believe all of the original factory seat belts are still in place. This Cadillac sits on a set of four one inch white wall steel belted radial tires on the original pink steel wheels. I only received the one original hubcap on the left front wheel with this purchase. The undercarriage has held up fairly well as shown by the pictures. I do have what looks like the original ignition key, but the trunk key I have does not open the trunk lock cylinder. I never played around with it, but I did peek inside the trunk from the back seat area. I saw a full size spare and from the looks of the wheel and the inside of the trunk the original bright pink is still showing. The original jack is still in place next to the spare tire. On a side note I would like to mention about how to put gas in these old finned Cadillac's. The lower left tail light has a spring loaded mechanism that pops up to expose the gas cap. The people who did not know these cars sure had a hard time figuring out how to fill them up. This one still works perfectly. Why not make your money work for you while you enjoy yourself. The Nada Classic Car Price Guide that anyone can look up on-line has the 1958 Cadillac Sedan DeVille with the 365/335 horsepower V8 engine, vanity case, and factory air conditioning valued at $36,460 in high condition, which theyconsider an excellent overall vehicle that was completely restored, or an original vehicle showing very minimal wear. Note: This value does not represent a 100 point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those vehicles can reach much higher prices. $23,480 in average condition, which theyconsider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well maintained original vehicle that is completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. They say an average condition car is considered a20-Footer! Nada hasthe lowest condition value at $13,020 being considered a deteriorated restoration or a very poor restoration, but mostly usable "As-Is!" The lowest value does not represent a parts car, but would be considered as the price for a car needing a complete restoration. I'm pretty sure if someone does obtain the documents to prove this is a genuine car that Elvis purchased new it would send the numbers into the 6-figure range with a high level restoration if it went to live auction. That being said the numbers don't lie! This"Pink Cadillac" is a very valuable classic automobile! These super rare Cadillac's have consistently shown toescalate in value with each quarter. What you see is exactly what you get! I tried to describe all of the pertinent information, so any potential bidder can make the most informed decision possible before placing their bid.
