Description:

1973 BMW 2002

Car was originally sold in Mill Valley, CA and except for a short sojourn in Santa Monica, it has lived in northern California it’s whole life. It has the original paint in Malaga.

When I bought the car it had been garaged for a number of years. The odometer is broken - reading 18531. I believe it broke at 118,531. I don’t think it would have been 218,531 based on the the previous owners records and the fact that he became ill and left the car in the garage for a long time.

I have had almost all mechanical systems rebuilt or replaced with original spec parts.

The engine has less than 500 miles on it after being rebuilt from the block out.

New: piston rings, bearings, rocker arm, rocker shaft, camshaft, all valves, valve springs, oil pump, timing chain, water pump, ignition wire set, thermostat, alternator rebuilt, carb rebuilt. All hoses and fuel lines (within engine compartment) replaced.

New clutch master and slave cylinders. New driveshaft flexible center bearing. New shocks front & rear. New exhaust system. New battery.

At this point my enthusiasm and bank account are strained so it’s for the next owner to do all the pretty work. The pictures should show it but the interior needs a lot of TLC.

The windshield is brand new and of course the gasket was replaced as well. All the other windows need new rubber around them. The driver’s seat is broken down. There was a pinhole fuel line leak inside the car at the right front passengers foot well. The line has been repaired but the carpeting there is a mess. Other things that need repair; the odometer, the wipers are not functioning right now, the emergency hand brake needs some help - the ratchet that holds it up is worn - it works you just have to be careful with it. The door locks are also temperamental.
