Description:

1957 Austin Healey 100-6

Up for sale is a very rare 1957 Austin Healey 100-6 Roadster that was stored in a concrete warehouse for almost 30 years. The car had been sitting inside a warehouse and had not been exposed to the rain, wind or the elements during that time. This car is white and has a nice Blue convertible top that folds great. The rear window is a little faded and sticky on the inside, but I believe it could be cleaned. The car is not running at the moment but would be a great project car for daily driver or restoration project. The wiring all looks original and good. The car has the original engine, and the serial numbers are matching. Serial #BN4-S-31605 Engine #ICH31605. The car is very original, and the engine is good. The engine will turn over when pushing the starter button, but there is no spark to the cylinders. It may need a new cap or wires or condenser. I did a compression test, and the results are all 6 between 120 and 115. There is power getting to the points but if I had time I would convert it to electronic ignition. I washed of the dust from the car from storage and tried to take some good pictures. The windshield will need replacing as it has a few cracks. The rear jump seat is missing and will need replacing as well. This car has not been driven in decades and will most likely need a fuel tank or this one cleaned out. The seats look great and have no rips, tears or wear anywhere. The dash and gauges and instruments are gorgeous. The steering wheel is original and has 1 small crack but is not weak and is firm. I have the side curtains, brackets and a small box of parts that go with the car. All the outer body panels look good with no rust holes or bubbles, The front inner fenders look great, and the floor panels are solid. The frame looks very solid and is not bent or rusted out. There is some rust under the trunk on the left and right under side and some small holes, but the center is solid. There is some rust on the back of the car where the rear inner wheel well arches are and the rear outriggers that attach to the frame. The are obtainable from Moss Motors and are not terribly expensive. Moss#857-600,857-650 856-060 and 856-060 The rust is all behind the rear of the doors under the car where water would be kicked up from the wheels see pictures. The lower inner rocker panels and lower inner dog legs also will need replacing. The doors, fenders, hood floor are all solid. This car has the side shift 4-speed manual gearbox and has new brake shoes, wheel cylinders and hoses installed by the previous owner who was a dentist. I am sure due to age the hydraulics will need replacing and or rebuilding. This car is very original, and I would love to keep it, but I need room and have many projects. The wire wheels just need painting and would look great. If you are interested and want to look at the car in person, it is located in Vestavia Hills Alabama just south of Birmingham, right off interstate 459 and highway 280. You can call or e-mail and I can meet you. I can also send pictures of any place on the car. This is a great chance to get a Big Healey! The title is marked as clear, but in Alabama cars over 35 years old do not need titles. I can write you a bill of sale and have some old tag receipts if it helps. The payment must be cash on pickup. I can hold the car for up to 21 days for pick up, but payment is due within 5-business days of sale. The car will roll easily, and I can help load. good luck bidding! Please call me for questions, pictures or to arrange to see the car. Late weekday evenings and weekends are best, if I do not answer please leave a message. Thanks David (205)-253-0597 I reserve the right to end the listing if sold another way and no bids are received.
