Description:

1968 Volvo Other

This is a very rare 1968 Volvo 142S 3-speed automatic with the very rare early model aluminum grille. It has the 1.8L B18 engine with a 32/36 DGAV Weber carburetor conversion. The conversion was done in 1985 and the carburetor was rebuilt in 2005. The transmission shifts very smoothly. The car is green on tan and it was repainted in 2004 in a slightly lighter shade than the original green. There is absolutely no rust anywhere.
This time-capsule survivor was daily driven by a long-term previous owner between 1982 and 2017 and therefore has an incredible approximately 436,700 miles on the functioning odometer. It's a California car, which I drove home to Vancouver, BC from San Francisco, partly via the Pacific Coast Highway, with no issues whatsoever. The car looks and drives unbelievably great for the age and especially mileage, and it is a head-turner and a conversation-starter wherever it goes.
The interior is equally immaculate; all gauges and lights work, the original radio is present and functions and there are no dash cracks. Seats and headliner are clean and in very good shape. All glass is in great condition.
Maintenance and repair items carried out over the past year include replacement of the universal joints, transmission and engine mounts, sway bar bushings, all brake hoses, brake master cylinder container seals, rear brake pads, alternator belt and wiper blades, bleeding the brake system and changing all the fluids.
The car comes with the California blue plates that it wore when I bought it, the owner's manual, service records since 1982 and some spare parts.
Given that this was a California-titled vehicle and is over 25 years old in any event, importing it back to the US would be a very easy process. It is simply a matter of driving it across and filling out the necessary paperwork at the border. Alternatively, you can hire a shipping company to import and transport it for you.
I ask that you look into shipping prior to bidding. I will try to assist you to the best of my ability, but will not do your research for you.
Please contact me for more photos and information.
I note that I also have the car listed for sale locally and on other sites, and therefore reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells prior to the end of the auction.
