1972 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic VW Baja Bug Dune Buggy

Selling a 1972 VW Baja Bug - NO RESERVE. It’s in excellent overall shape. I traded for this car about a month ago and was thrilled with it. Long story short, it was my wife's old car that I traded and she wasn't too happy, so to keep the peace I've decided it's best to sell it! The car I traded was a Toyota Camry, worth about $8,500. Once I saw the bug and the guy agreed on the trade I went for it as fast as I could. I've owned a lot of VW's over the years and I could not believe how solid of a bug this is. Most bugs, especially Bajas, are pretty beat up, even the nice ones. Generally people don't convert a nice solid bug into a Baja, but this was clearly a phenomenalcar from the start. Just by looking at the floor pans and wheel wells you can tell how much this car was cared for, they are absolutely perfect, which is what really sold me on the car. From what I know the car spent most of its life inGeorgia which explains why it is extremely solid. Again, this is not your normal Baja that was converted from a junker or rotten bug. It's also not your normal Baja that has been abused and used off road. The floor pan and inside the wheel wells tell the truth, and they are perfect with no rust whatsoever, not dinged up from off roading, instead they are smooth and clean enough to eat off of. The heater channels are all 100% perfect, and yes the heat still works and is all hooked up. The rims are also clean in great shape, and the tires are basically brand new. Brakes are good, car stops well without squeakingor shaking.Steering is tight. No weird noises from the engine, drivetrain, or suspension. Suspension is also really good.Engine sounds great with the stinger exhaust, and the engine also has a nice skid plate should you decide to use it for off-roading. Wipers work.Headlights, taillights, turn signals, break lights, and even the door mounted spotlights all work. Starts right up with ease, and drives smooth.Car sits high and looks like a beast!Exterior is clean and has zero rust, and the orange flames that you can see in some of the pictures are easily removable if they aren’t your thing. The fenders and lower front nose of the car are rhino lined which looks good and adds some durability. Engine is a 1600 dual port, looks clean and gnarly. 5 speed manual transmission with offset shifter. Goes through the gears smooth with no grinding or popping out of gear.
Interior is clean and shows really well. The headliner is perfect, and carpets are in good shape.Seats have been upgraded from the small uncomfortablebug seats to more appropriate and much more comfortable aftermarket seats.Has an updated sound system that cranks some really loud music. Has a roller gas pedal which adds a little touch to it and adds to the conversation when people take a look inside. Doors shut tight and line up well, as does the hood. This is not your normal beat up Baja. It’s near perfect. Have a recent video of it starting, running, and a walk around that I can send if you want to see it running. Cruises right along on the highway and has no problem keeping pace at 65. Odometer says 9,858. It works, so I'd have to assume it just rolled over at some point which is the case with all of these old VW's. It's a really good car, but it's a classic so keep that in mind. Could it use a few odds and ends, of course, its almost 50 years old. But it's a VW, and there is a reason they are so popular to this day. They are simple for ANYONE to work on, old original parts are easy to find, new parts are even easier to find, and they are only going up in value. It's a really cool car, gets a lot of looks and attention, and will definitely get you a lot of high fives while you're having fun in it.
