Description:

1967 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon

I've had this Bus for a few years. I took it on as a project and the time has come to pass it on. I bought it because it only needed minor rust repair. The outer rockers were only lightly pitted, but were replaced along with the front floors (frame to outer sill), battery tray, and the lower front sill and valance behind the front bumper. The cavities behind these panels were rust treated and painted during these repairs. The bus was painted inside and out with single stage urethane paint that can be clear coated (if you feel the need). The headliner and all interior panels are new Baltic Birch (stained "natural" and clear coated twice). The full-width rear fold down seat is from an early Bay Window Westfalia. The custom rear facing jump seat is built with matching Westfalia laminate. The folding table is new and sports an original Westfalia leg. All seats and the rear bed cushion are freshly upholstered with green vinyl and OG Westy yellow/red plaid, vintage 1976. New floor mat, seat pad covers, rear vinyl floor coverings. New green tinted glass windshields to ease your eyes. New popout side window frames with original Sekurit glass. The rubber seals on all windows, doors, hatch, and top are new. The poptop canvas is new, as is the headliner to top trim piece. The speedometer was disassembled, lubed, had it's colored jells replaced, and it was rolled back to zero miles. You will get to put all the miles on this bus, just like you could in 1967! There is 1 key that fits the ignition, both front doors, and the rear hatch (the cargo door handle is missing its lock cylinder, it can be locked from the inside though).Mechanically, everything was gone through with the exception of the transaxle which shifts nicely and runs quietly as it should. The '67 fuel tank was cleaned and sealed, and has a working German sender. The engine is a Dual port (AH dual oil pressure relief case) with a new cam, new lifters, new main, rod and cam bearings. NOS 87mm NPR pistons and cylinders. The rods and heads were rebuilt (new valves and guides). The doghouse oil cooler is new. Plugs, wires, points, condenser, cap, rotor all new Bosch. The carburetor was rebuilt and rebushed by Volksbitz. New muffler and tips. The engine starts right up, idles, and drives great. It uses its original oil bath air cleaner - KISS.The brakes are all new with Master Cylinder, wheel cylinders (6), shoes, and rubber lines replaced. Several hard lines were replaced as needed. The bus stops straight and as well as 4 drums can be expected. Tires are 185r14 LT Hankook correct rating, not dated new, but not on the road yet.All the electrics are in good working order. Newer wiring harness, 12 volt electrics. The switches are all original. The 2 speed wiper motor lubed and rebrushed. New wiper blades. New Halogen headlamps. Rebuilt stater motor. New fuel gauge. New horn. The OG horn button has some cracks and sticks sometimes (working on it).I started driving VW Buses in the early '80s and do this as a hobby and a passion. I get a great deal of satisfaction putting them back on the road. I have done the things I wanted to, and thought needed to be done to this Bus and am ready to pass it along. The paint and body work aren't perfect, I don't want to be afraid of using it. Drive i, scratch it, use and enjoy it. It is a 50 year old vehicle and will need maintenance and repairs in the future. Buy this bus and you get to enjoy all its future fun, as well as all its needs. There is no warranty expressed or implied. Please ask any questions and check it out in person before buying. I am happy to talk, text, or email to help you with your decision. I have more pics, and can take any you need. Contact me thru eBay. I will accept cash, certified check, or wire transfer. I will release the bus to you or your shipper once the funds are in my possession. Clean MO title in my name. Thanks!
