1964 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Re-bodied, race

We call this the red car, I Built it from a bare frame a few years ago, after watching a British top gear review of the Ariel atom. That show enlightened me to the benefits of super light weight vehicals and the incredible performance they can achieve. I have also done a bunch of vw beetles, but no performance ones. So starting with a really good sand rail chassis, a ruined 64 beetle, and a 2336cc stroker engine, I got to work. The trans has streight cut gears, and a super diff to handle the power put through it, a high performance clutch was installed, and a Ton of other performance parts were thrown at it. It has 4 wheel disk brakes, a Neal peddle assembly, with hydronic clutch. The master cylinder was swapped for a 3/4 piston when the disks went on. It has a single handle hydro cutting brake, which is a ton of fun on the street. The front beam has adjusters welded in and the top tube is a sway bar. The rear has koni 400 coil over shocks, and a camber eliminator sway bar. Red car accelerates like a rocket, turns hard enough to make you hold your breath out of instinct, and stops hard. It tops out at 104mph and sounds like a screaming banshee. I run it on 91 octane, but on 120 race fuel it dyno-ed at 202hp it's more like 160 on the 91. I have come super close to converting it to e85, and would recommend that to whoever buys it (it is super hard to find in Utah). In race gas it has the same power to weight as a lambergini aventadore, it is fun! Someone once asked me if I was scared driving a "death trap" I responded it has race seats, 4 point harnices, and it is a roll cage. It is safe. In Utah cars can be registered as the doner car used to build it (and after is passes a stringent safety inspection) as such this is registered, licensed and insured as a 1964 beetle, and is smog exempt in Utah as it is a "vintage" and is insured as a classic which costs $100 a year, for $15,000 in car insurance and $500 in spare parts. Cheep to run (ok, gas mileage is not great.) super cheep to insure and register and super car fast. You can't beat it. Let me be honest, thought it has no doors, roof, heater, dashboard, fenders, windows (other than the windshield) no wipers (I used a hand squeegee to get through safety, and after much arguing and debate it was passed) and it is loud! I have done everything I can think of to fix that, but the sound is coming out the carbs as much as the exhaust, and other than more body work (and more weight) I have no solution. Wear head phones. Shockingly I have never been pulled over in the red car. I made it to do auto cross, but it is not for me. I am selling to start the next project, I am fast coming to the realization that I am more of a builder than a driver. I have had this car in three car shows, and a parade, as well as having put about 600 miles on it. It gets thumbs up, and attention everywhere it goes. It's fast, Red, loud, unique,And cheep, price is half the cost to build. Whole car for the price of the engine! It takes a certain type of person, to enjoy owning such a car. You know who you are. You will not be disappointed!
