1965 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic

Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. Up for grabs is a 1965 Volkswagen Beetle turned into a Volksrod rat rod. This Volksrod does not come with an engine. My son and I took the family Beetle and had fun with it. A hot rod 1776 engine was custom built and installed. We drove her less than 100 miles and discovered a major head to jug leak. The builder of the engine purchased the engine back and we decided to sell the rest of the car. We had a lot of fun building this project and would now like to see someone else enjoy her. The following is a list of things we did in this build:
1. Chopped front hood support and removed all four fenders/bumpers.2. Installed custom fabricated 8" front beam extension, which lowered the front end 2.5".3. Kaddie Shack in Pasadena built new adjustable front beam using top notch German parts.4. Serviced the transaxle with new gear oil and boots.5. Installed all 4 wheel brakes with new top notch parts, which included new drums, pads, bearings.6. Installed dual master cylinder, wheel cylinders, fittings, and brake lines.7. Installed all new 1/4" fuel line (running inside of car on passenger side as outlined by VW).8. Installed serviceable fuel filter under gas tank with adjustable fuel regulator and electric fuel pump.9. Installed 8 gallon aluminum gas tank with integrated fuel gauge.10. Installed new factory wiring harness and fuse panel.11. Installed roll bar.12. Installed new Procar seats.13. Installed new Optima battery in stock location with red top Optima battery and new cables.14. Installed new early Ford tail lights.15. Installed new early Ford headlights.16. Installed 4 new shocks.17. Installed wheel spacers with Chevy bolt pattern.18. Installed 4 new 15 x 4.5" Chevy rims.19. Installed four new Firestone vintage white walls.20. Installed new Ididit steering column.21. Installed new aluminum 14" racing steering wheel.22. Installed handmade wooden dash with tach, oil press., & oil temp gauges.23. Restored pedal assembly with new improved clutch cable fastener & roller pedal.24. Installed new heavy duty throttle cable & new clutch cable.25. Installed handmade wood door and quarter panels.26. Installed aftermarket interior door handles.27. Installed Jeep front hood hold downs.28. Installed new front windshield with Cal rubber.29. Installed rat rod side view mirrors.30. Installed handmade carpeted rear shelf.31. Installed new door hinge pins.32. Chopped front doors making it windowless.33. Removed rear windows and installed windlace on edges.34. Removed rear hood.35. Installed new ignition switch with 2 VW shaped keys.36. Installed new trunk wire cover.37. Installed new Bowden tube for clutch cable.38. All bulbs are 12 volt including 12 volt starter that works fantastic.39. Installed 3 new transaxle rubber mounts.40. Installed alternator light in dash to signal alternator charging system.41. Rear apron chopped.42. Installed 7mm shifter extension for leg clearance.43. Installed new light switch.
Other notables:
1. Rear hood sold with car.2. Rear floorboards under seat were patched 20+ years ago. Not show quality.3. Underside of floorpan where patchwork was completed repair panels were installed. See pic.4. No headliner.5. No sun visors.6. No blinkers or horn. Wiring to reintegrate comes with car along with all wiring instructions.7. No wipers installed. Original wiper assembly comes with car.8. Buffs out well with normal 52 year flaws.11. Scratches in paint under dash.12. VIN plate relocated in trunk area. See pic.13. Included is a box of miscellaneous parts, which includes a front wheel alignment tool and original unrestored floor jack.14. Front license plate not installed, but included.15. Two new accelerator cable Bowden tubes included (homemade tube currently installed).16. Heater channels, cables, and handles removed. Part of driver side tube not removed. See pic.17. Inner exposed fender wells painted with textured paint.18. Car drives straight with no pulling.19. Brakes straight without pulling.20. Jack points chopped. Still functional jack areas.21. Engine bay wiring labeled for easy re installation.22. Emergency brake still intact and functions great. No boot.
This car was an absolute blast to drive with the 1776 engine. Super light, fast, and with a great stance. The intent of this build was to have a reliable fast and sharp looking Volksrod, which I believe we accomplished. There are flaws in the paint, such as scratches, small dings, etc... nothing major. This car was never intended to be a trailer queen. So please take that into consideration. The transmission works like a champ with no apparent leaks up to this point. Brakes work great. However, with the dual master cylinder we were never able to get an immediate hard pedal even after properly bleeding the entire system. The pedal goes about half way before locking up brakes. Doors open and close with no issues. All you have to do is install an engine to enjoy this Volksrod!
Car is sold as is with no warranty or guarantee. I have done my best to accurately describe the details of this car. And I may have missed an item or two. If I recall before sale, I will update the description. I have a clear title California pink slip.
