Description:

1981 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon

1981 VW Vanagon Westfalia "Westy" full camper. This van runs and drives, but should be gone through before taking on any long trips. This is a California van and still has the CA plates that match the clear, open CA title. I had intentions of making a rat rod Westy with this, but I am selling some of my projects as I have too many. There are lots of dents, dings and scrapes on this and some rust spots... call it character. Being from CA, the undercarriage is very solid. If this van could speak, I can only imagine the stories it would tell! There are several window stickers that chronicle its life's journey and of course I left those there. With the little flags hanging over the rear ceiling, the hippie jacket and blanket I found in it, the cluster of rocks on the dash, the home-made wooden glove box cover and rolling papers found throughout...I am sure this van was...let's say...well used!

It has the later style front seats with adjustable armrests and we recovered the rear bench with upholstery that is similar to the front seats...the original rear boogie-woogie bench seat upholstery was totally shot, but I still kept it in case the new owner wanted it. The rear cushion over the engine hatch was OK, so I left that one original but I have enough of the new upholstery that will be included to cover that as well.

Mechanically it could probably use a tune up and has a little trouble cold starting but a shot of starting fluid and it fires right up. Shifts fine through all gears. Brakes seem OK, glass is all good, appliances all in physical good shape but operating condition unknown.

Body-wise, the pictures speak for themselves...but please message me if you would like to see anything I may have missed. The pop-top tent is shot, so it will need new pop-top canvas, but the upper bed is in great shape.

Consider this a project...may need lots of little things....should be towed and gone through, but for the adventurous...it's your call!

Thanks for looking and please let me know any questions you may have or any pics you would like to see.
