I am the fourth owner of this rock-solid 1974 Triumph TR6 California car, you will be the 5th.
The first owner bought the car in California. It was in theCalifornia Central Valley until '98when it came to theSan Jose area. The second ownerbought the car in '98, drove it home to Turlock, CA and started to repaint it in the original French Blue (a yellow respray was attempted at some point). The paint job never got finished (the hood and doors are yellow, the remainder is the original blue color).
The third owner drove the car from Turlock (in the California Central Valley) to Milpitas, California, near San Jose with no problems, and some disassembly was started, but then I bought it.
It has always been in Californiauntil I had it shipped to PA a few years ago and stored it in my heated garaged since.
This isa truly a rust and rot free car other than typical surface rust. No rot; the floors, rockers and all typical danger areas are excellent except for surface rust where the paint was worn.
The frame is original and excellent. I can't find any bodywork or signs of accident damage.
The odometer (I removed the speedometer after I stopped running it and started further disassembling the car) shows 54,746 miles and the clear PA title states 54,000 original miles.
When I had the car shipped from California to Pennsylvania I changed the oil and coolant and ran it a little, but soon continued disassembly. It is now in the advanced disassembly stage but all parts except those mentioned are present and accounted for, and I will help however I can with transportation.
The dash pad and center console are in great shape. The seats were rebuilt with all new foams and rubbers and then custom covered in blue & white vinyl as my intention was to do the car in blue & white. A dash vent is damaged as shown in the picture but two good ones are included.
The wooden dashwas shot so it was tossed. The soft top is dry rotted and will need to be replaced.
This is a great starting point for a relatively easy restoration of a rare, un-rotted original overdrive California TR6. You won't find a cleaner, more solid place to start. The chrome is not show quality, but nice driver quality. This car with it's 'original miles' title, matching numbers, no rust, California history and overdrive transmission is destined to be a high-dollar car. No rust or rot repairs, no patch panels, no frame mutilation and no non-original components. As far as I know the only things the car is missing is a good soft top, interior panels and carpeting, and wooden dash. Of course these are all readily available new.
Includes roll bar, your choice of low-profile or standard tires, both sets in excellent condition. Includes your choice of silver or black center caps. (I think the black ones came with the car originally). Includes nice wheel-trim rings. Some items like the rubber over-riders, under bumper front turn signals, and more are included but not shown; please ask before bidding if you have questions. The oil pressure gauge is not shown because it is installed and used when I start the car. (Car has great oil pressure). I'm not sure if I have the windshield wipers. I do have a considerable amount of extra and spare parts but I don't have time or energy to sort through them - we'll pick through them when you come to pick the car up. Even the original jack and jack rod are here.
The engine can be started with a small fuel electric pump and fuel source to show you the engine is good, runs strong with no smoke.
Includes the 2 original sets of keys, original jack, original owners manual, some receipts from California etc.
I don't know how to add more pictures - I tried photobucket but the link wasn't accepted. Any advice on adding more pictures is appreciated.
