It is one of 50 cars built by Shelby American. Inc. to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1962 289 Cobra. This car. CSX 8971. has a fiberglass body with the optional soft top and side curtains. tonneau cover. and special 50th anniversary car cover and floor mats. The matching numbered engine is Shelby Engine Company's all aluminum 289. bored to 331 cu in. Shelby Engine Co. dynoed the engine at 503 hp. and torque at 450 lb/ft. The engine is mated to a Tremec TKO 5sp. transmission. The car was assembled by Speedway Classic Cars in Las Vegas. and is registered in California as an SPCNS car under SB100 with VIN CA957814. The low miles make this car in excellent condition with no defects found. Only mechanical work performed has been to rear differential to address a leak. rejetting of the carburetor and adjustment to the timing to make the car more streetable.
