Description:

1985 Porsche 944

I purchased this 1985.5 Porsche 944 in June of last year. I drove it from north of Dallas back to austin (4 hours 200+ miles) with no incident. It ran cool and straight. cruised well between 75-80 MPH all the while. I left it with the local Porsche specialist (TPWS) and had them go over it and do the front of engine service (timing and balance shaft belts etc).
In the fall of 2018, I purchased a 1988 Porsche 951 (944 turbo). It's at my mechanics shop in North Carolina (if you follow Edredas on youtube, it's the red one he picked up). The 951 is being shipped to me next month, so I need this gone to make room. My wife had explored the idea of using this as her daily driver, to replace her E30. But in the end she has decided to get rid of both and buy herself a newer BMW and that's likely a logical decision.
Recent items that have been replaced include tires, battery, struts/shocks, brake pads, injectors, hatch pins, timing belt and balance shaft belts, distributor cap and spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, steering wheel skin, windshield wipers.
It has the usual items that can be addressed in the future, motor mounts, oil pan gasket, sway bar bushings and power steering hose. The paint has some clear coat that has oxidized and flaked off. The odometer gear is stripped... It does not burn oil or smoke at all. Oil Pressure is good and it's only leaked a tiny drop of oil (size of a dime) where it's parked in the garage. I was about to replace the car stereo, but I'll leave that up to the new owner as that's a personal choice.
The driver's side bolster is busted up and that seat is fairly nasty as well. The Clock works! It also comes with a spare DME relay.
This is a super fun car to drive. It's not fast, but the handling is amazing. It's also easy on the fuel. All the lights, windows and blinkers work. It recently passed TX inspection.
We have over $5k into this car in less than a year. But I really HAD to have that 951.
I took a few videos this past Sunday February 24 2019 and posted them to my youtubehttps://youtu.be/Jeq-6EoiiS8
This is a good starting point into Porsche. It's the third 944 I've owned, they can be heart breakers, and an extreme joy as well.
I would encourage bidders to come test drive the car before bidding, or have PPI done. I'll do my best to get it to the shop of your choice.
