1971 71 Pontiac LeMans Le Mans Sport with Def Leppard Hysteria Mural Very Nice!!

Price: US $13,900.00 Item location: Clarksville, Iowa, United States
Description:

1971 Pontiac Le Mans

This is a very nice, super clean 1971 Le Mans Sport. It was restored in 1990 and has a laser straight paint job, Black Cherry, base coat/clear coat finish with a Def Leppard Hysteria mural on the trunk lid.

The engine is a 350 4 barrel but not the original engine. The current engine did come out of another Le Mans, I believe it was a 1970.

Power steering, power brakes and AC but the AC compressor went out and was removed from the engine. The AC system was capped off so you should be able to replace the compressor and revived the AC system.

Transmission was rebuilt in 1994

New tires in 2008

The original radio and 8-track player are still in the car and should work but are not hooked up. There's a working Pioneer CD player in the glove box - The equalizer is not hooked up due to you could hear engine noise through it. There are Pioneer speakers in the rear.

I am selling this for my cousin who lives and stores the car 12 miles away in Waverly, Iowa. I too used to own this car, here's the life history:

The car was originally purchased by my cousin in May 1971 as a 1stcar out of college. Originally it was dark blue w/ black vinyl top. This car has been in our family 47 of 48 years. We have the original owner's manual, hub cabs and repair invoices for the last 28 years.

In 1981 the car was sold to me (the person listing the car on eBay) I was 14 years old at the time. My sister drove it until I was 16, she ran the engine out of oil, so I swapped motors. At age 16 I drove the car for about 3 years and ended up getting in a minor collision, resulting in a large dent in the passenger's front fender and cracking the header panel. I was learning the auto restoration trade at the time and I put the car in storage with the goal of restoring it later.

While in storage I purchased NOS front fenders, header panel, lower front valance, rear bumper, rocker moldings, wheel opening moldings and other misc items. In 1989 I did extensive restoration work to the car, installing all the NOS items mentioned above. The rear quarters had some rust and I repaired them as they didn't require replacement.

Shortly after the restoration work was complete, I sold it to a Pontiac enthusiast in the neighboring town. Within 6-months the car was caught in a hailstorm and the guy didn't want to deal with the dents, so I bought it back from him with the plan of repairing and repainting the car. To my surprise, most of the dents came out within a few weeks from the hot sunlight on the dark surface and I didn't feel that a repaint was justified.

With that said you can still see some small hail dents in the hood and roof, but they are difficult to detect. While most of the dents came out, they didn't all come out. We've tried to show you in the pictures but they're small and don't show up.

In 1991 I sold the car back to my cousins and they were delighted to get it back. Since 1991, just under 12,000 miles have been put on the car, that's about 428 miles per year.In the past 28 years the car has not seen snow & very little rain.

The paint is still in excellent condition!!There are some minor chips and 1 larger scratch on the passenger side front fender, email me for pictures, eBay only allows 24 pics.

What is most impressive is the body & interior. The body was heavily undercoated for protection when restored and is in immaculate condition. The only signs of rust on the car today is at the bottom front and rear corners of the driver's door, in front of the rear wheel on the passenger's side and on the bottom corners of the trunk lid, all of these spots together would fit inside of a 50-cent piece, email me for pictures.

The black interior is in excellent condition. The rear seats are original, the bucket seats were partially reupholstered.Due to cracking, the dashboard was replaced and came out of another Le Mans.

The trunk floor is excellent! The foam was pulling off of the trunk liner so we didn't remove it completely for pictures.

Down payment of $500.00, via PayPal, due within 24 hours of the end of the auction. After 24 hours if no down payment is received then the car will be relisted.

Full payment due within 7 days of the end of the auction.Full payment must be either a cashier's check, bank transfer or green cash at the time of pickup.Once full payment is received and clears your bank, the title will be mailed using overnight services. If full payment isn't paid within 7 days then the car will be relisted and you will lose your down payment.

We will help load the car onto a transport but hiring and organizing the transport is the buyer's responsibility.

No warranties or guarantees.

My cousin states:"It's a hard decision to sell this car with sentimental value but it is time to sell since I'm not a car buff & life change. I hope whoever purchases the car thoroughly enjoys it.”
