Description:

1984 Pontiac Trans Am

1984 Pontiac Trans Am, 5.0L High Output, automatic with overdrive. Dark Gold Wing Metallic, with Gold wing Metallic trim VIN: IG2AW87G9EL259598.Clean title and fully running. Car has 117,043 miles (12,064 miles since engine replacement).Car has been driven approximately 1K miles per year since the engine replacement. Current CA registration thru Jul 2018.

I'm selling the car because I need the room and a new project restoration is demanding my time.

Original owner/family car. Car was purchased in July 1985 off the showroom floor of Bob Warren Pontiac of Manhattan Beach. The car has been a California car its entire life. No body rust. Since painting, car has been mostly garaged. When parked outside, car was under one of two sets of California Car Covers - outdoor cover, indoor flannel cover (included in the sale). Since purchased, the car has always been operational with current tags.

Engine swap in April 2006. Driven only 12,064 miles since. GM Crate motor 350 c.i.d. installed with a new transmission.

Additional upgrades include Edelbrock CARB-legal headers and exhaust.

Car passes CA emissions every time. Radiator replaced at time of engine swap along with automatic 4 speed w/ O/D.

Automatic Overdrive Transmission shifts perfectly.

Car painted in June 2005. Repainted with correct PPG color-code original color: Dark Gold Wing Metallic. Lower valance stripes are not decals - stripes were painted. Firebird graphic on hood and sail-panel were replaced as decals. I have the receipt for all paint work

Equipped with standard Trans Am package: power windows, power door locks, Velour interior/seats, A/C, power steering, 4-wheel disc brakes, overdrive automatic transmission, cruise control, tilt steering column, Driver power seat, center console with glove box, Tach and 85-mph speedometer, electric rear hatch button and power side mirrors. PPG front windshield replaced when painted. All weather stripping as well. Door locks and door handles were replaced when repainted for aesthetic reasons only.

No t-tops or cassette player

Wheels are not the original rims: I believe the rims to be 1986/87 Trans Am wheels 245R50ZR16 Goodyear Eagle F1, 30% tread left on front, 70% left on rear tires.

Engine: GM 350 Crate motor was installed when the car had 104,979 miles (per receipt) on 4/10/06 (per receipt). Runs perfect. Engine swap was a little more than 12 years ago. Starts fine, easily passes CA smog. Oil pressure good, charging system works, all gauges work. Would rate the motor and transmission a 9/10. The transmission was replaced when the motor was replaced. I have video while driving on the road and on freeway so you can see the oil pressure and temperature. Oil pressure never drops below 40 and temp stays below 220 and operates at 220 when stuck in traffic.

Paint is 8/10. Three small damage points: Bottom of front nose tip, driver front corner of front nose, driver door jamb.

Electrical system: 7-8/10. Driver side window motor is slow power door locks need extra touch. Rear defrost not functioning (needs strut wiring correction). Current hatch struts are incorrect for the car, they are for the Firebird, not the Trans AM. Rear defrost button lights, just not connected. Radio operates along with power antenna. Dome light needs new bulb. Dash lights up. Drivers side power seats operate fine (a little slow). Headlamps are operational. At times the drivers side will get lazy and stay up. After a few minutes it will retract. I have a few extra motors I will include as donor parts.

Interior is 5/10. Sun damage to seat backs, front seats need new upholstery. Drivers seat was re-done a while back and is not the correct color although close in appearance. The dash board is the correct two-line stock dash but has cracks in it. Tomorrow(July 17th)I will be listing separately a near perfect two-line replacement dashpad with all grilles. All gauges work and the gauge cluster is nice. Odometer and tripmeter function properly. The glove box with velcro fastener on passenger side is in good shape and the Firebird and "Trans Am" logo are in nice condition. Center console is intact but lettering is fading. I have additional photos I can send of the replacement cover for the shifter that is a near perfect brand new replacement. All lettering is perfect and clearly visible. Cigarette lighter works, although at times the back will disconnect and it may not work. I have additional pictures of GM window switches still in sealed bags that I will include to replace faded/worn originals. The switch for the headlamps work, but I will include a used but newer replacement that has nicer lettering. The side mirror switch works but I have a GM replacement that is new that I will include in the sale. The carpet is okay but has some stains and wear. I am unsure of how many floor mats are left but I will include what I have, they are in poor condtion. The rear seat cushions are in decent condition but seat backs have serious sun damage to the tops. Rear cargo area has the fold down cover. I have all original plastic panels for the car. They have been removed and a second set of panels has been installed in prep for an entire interior restoration that was not started. I will include all originals (some pieces are in decent condition and some have some serious sun damage. Replaced parts currently in car are decent condition. Tomorrow (July 17th) I will be listing separately the original/correct material to completely recover all the seats and entire carpet kit along with the correct vinyl for the door panels. If interested in the car, this material is better than a reproduction as it is the original velour and carpet, not a repro. Headliner was replaced and visors redone, however since the a-pillar plastics are not in the car, the headliner is sagging despite it's perfect condition. The plastic for the a-pillar is not installed, I am trying to locate them and will include them in the sale as long as I find them. Seat belts work but drivers side is worn and doesn't operate properly as most of the time it will not properly retract as it is worn. I think the passengers side is the same but I will verify.

My listing only shows 12 photos however I will e-mail pictures of any part of the car that you would like and as many as you need. I will send videos while driving the car so you can see the gauges working and that car has great oil pressure and operates at a safe temperature. Contact me with any questions. I have the original purchase receipt along with owners manual and Delco radio manual. I have receipts dating back to 1985.

On July 14th, 2018 (this weekend) I replaced both the drivers and passenger side front calipers and bled the brakes. Braking system works and functions properly. In addition I replaced the rubbers on the front sway bar so the car handles and feels great. Installed a brand new battery too.

Car does not include license plates

A/C works but is the old freon that is illegal in California and is not ice cold.

It has a clean California title, no liens

Once payment isreceivedand confirmed we cancomplete thetitletransaction at AAA since I am a AAA member.

Ihavepainfullydescribed the car to the best of myknowledge and mayhaveinadvertentlyomitted or overlookedsomething so please ask. It is a good driver and does need attention insome areas. Look at the receipts closely as itaccounts for more thanjust a new motor andtransmission. Theradiator was replaced shortlythereafter and many other receiptscan show that this car has received a lot of attention.

The car hasspent its entire life in Redondo Beach CA.
