Description:

1966 Pontiac Catalina Ventura

Up for auction is a very rare 1966 Pontiac Catalina with the Ventura trim package. I am a collector and an auto enthusiast. I've owned this beauty for the past 6 years and now it's time for it to go to make room for another vehicle. What makes this car so rare is the factory Starlight Black paint on black vinyl seat color combination, the Strato-bucket seats, Console, and 4-speed manual transmission. Most Catalina's were bench seat automatics. Now couple that with a vintage correct 1966 421cu inch tri-power engine and you have one of the most desirable vintage Pontiacs. This Catalina is a GTO on steroids. Also, as delivered, it has its original steel hub caps (included but not shown in pics) and new bias ply tires, fender skirts, power steering and factory temperature, oil pressure, battery gauges. I do have the PHS document for the car and will be delivered to the new owner once sold. According to the PHS this car is 1 of 389 built in its original configuration.
Last year I added a factory vintage operable tachometer mounted on the console. PLEASE NOTE: Mileage stated above may or may not be correct since is only a 5 digits odometer.
WARNING: When you are out cruising or cruise-ins or a car show with this Pontiac you will be noticed!! You will experience much attention and admiration. it's just a stand out no matter where you take it.
This is a fun car to drive, that can be driven anywhere. A very reliable and road worthy vehicle. Headlights, high-low beams, turn signals, brake lights, e-brake and dash, interior, trunk lights all work as they should. Seat covers, carpet, door panels, headliner, safety belts all in nice condition.
The black re-paint, I would rate a 7-8 out of 10, with 10 being show. It has a bright shine finish and shows well. This a very popular car at local cruise-ins. It draws a crowd every time, since you really don't see these full size Pontiacs all too often, especially one as rare as this.
The 421 was installed last year, which I bought from a gentleman who had it rebuilt but never installed into a 2+2 he was going to clone. It runs very strong and it set up to factory 356hp specs. Heads are 093 which is correct along with correct 1966 tri-power setup. Engine block casting number is 9778791 and engine code is YJ. Also, it has the stock HO long branch exhaust headers. As you may know, these high performance 421 engines are very hard to find and demand big money. This monster gets up and goes!
The engine compartment is nicely detailed with the correct hood insulation, hoses, and hose clamps, valve cover dress up kit and new chrome carburetor covers.
The Torq Thrust II wheels were added with brand new tires. The car handles really nicely, having a recent 4 wheel alignment. Suspension and steering are tight, nicely handling through turns and curves. Newer front end springs, some suspension and steering components were recently replaced.
All in all this is a very nice quality driver that can be enjoyed for many years. This is a very affordable car, on an increasing appreciation curve, given the prices of GTO's Chevelles, Camaro's, Firebirds and the likes are in the stratosphere.
The car is being sold "as is" "where" with no stated or implied warranty. Buyer must arrange shipping and transportation at their expense. Or fly in and drive home with complete confidence. I'll pick you up at Rochester International Airport. Please do your due diligence before bidding and check out transportation prices and ask questions and if possible come and inspect the car prior to bidding.
You'll notice some pictures were taken last summer before I decided to list the car on ebay. The Catalina is currently in storage at my residence and in the same condition as shown. HAPPY BIDDING! This a great car and BID WITH CONFIDENCE!!! Please Don't ask for the Reserve Price, bid to what you think is fair. I paid a premium for the a reserve auction.
