1962 Oldsmobile Starfire --

Those who know '60s classic know to take note of this 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire. This was the most expensive Olds you could get back in the day, and so it came with big V8 power, a luxury interior, and a style that left people talking. And that kind of admiration grows larger when you can find a rare well preserved/presented example on the vintage market. The Starfire was a true range-topping model for Oldsmobile. So to make sure... this car earned its elevated status, they made sure it had true distinction. It starts with the prestige look that comes from a factory Provincial White car with a white folding roof. Only the first few years got the full-length silver streak treatment that really draws attention to the sculpted sides of this convertible. The front end was fully encircled in bright trim, including an expertly integrated chrome bumper. And the rear is one of the most intricate sheetmetal designs ever. After all, the crisp tops of the fenders were in direct contrast to the rounded trunk line, and yet it all had one harmonious look as it tapered to a rear panel that made this Starfire look like a rocket ship. This is truly 1960s design at its best, and this one is well-preserved - right down to the turbine-style factory wheel covers. Beneath the white roof is a white interior, so you get a true premium look no matter if the top is up or down. As we've mentioned before, this was the true upper-class Olds, and so few were willing to pay the premium. There were less than 7,200 produced in '62, and just imagine how many survived to be this complete six decades later. So it came with some rare and luxurious features as standard. This includes desirable items like power adjusting front bucket seats, floor-mounted shifter, and the bright center console with the unique tach mounted in the center. The whole car has a great vintage presentation with a great look and the correct investments along the way to keep it feeling factory-correct. Spanning the entire width of the car, the dashboard houses everything from the extra-long speedometer to the AM radio that's still craning out tunes. And you can see it all easily thanks to the thin dual-spoke factory steering wheel. You might have noticed that this Starfire has plenty of room to carry family and friends, but you can have fun in this car all on your own. After all, with features like a power convertible top and power windows, you never even have to leave the driver's seat to go from enclosed luxury to a wind-in-your-hair experience. The Starfire was not only the pinnacle Olds for its style, but also for its big power. The "Ultra High Compression" 394 cubic-inch V8 was the motor of its day. So it's nice to see it looking good in the engine bay with big air cleaner w/callout, bright air topper, and the red block looking like it's radiating power from within the dark engine bay. The proper Rochester four-barrel carburetor lets the big V8 inhale deeply, and the dual exhaust offers a powerful sound without being too boisterous. It has a nice cruiser-level ride with the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes. Rarity, distinction, and a true vintage luxury package make this an awesome classic convertible. Don't miss your chance, call today!
