Description:

1964 Oldsmobile Starfire

One of only 2,410 Starfire convertibles manufactured in 1964, and the most expensive Oldsmobile produced that year. It came fully loaded with all the bells and whistles, such as power brakes, steering, windows, and convertible top, all of which represented the finest luxury and convenience that Oldsmobile could provide. The engine bay houses a 394 cubic inch, four barrel engine, producing 345 horsepower, exhausted through two tailpipes located under the back bumper, that provide a very satisfying growl as the Hydramatic transmission pushes the car down the freeway with effortless ease.
Originally purchased by a family in Lincoln, Nebraska, this car appears to have spent its life in the Midwest and currently is in my garage. I am retired military and live near Scott AFB, about 20 miles east of St Louis, Missouri. It is in excellent condition overall, with shiny chrome and a beautiful color of deep, almost metallic, blue-green in a period correct Aqua Poly Mist. The seats are in almost perfect condition and there aren't any nicks, scratches or dings on the glossy paint.
The power top works seamlessly and both it and the convertible boot are in excellent condition. The boot appears to be the original. The power windows and wing vents operate smoothly, although the driver's window needs an occasional assist and the driver's wing vent does not work electrically. The glass is all intact, free of any cracks or pock marks. The radio works and broadcasts through both the front and rear speakers. The antenna does not retract when the power button is pressed.
I included photos detailing the shortcomings of the vehicle. On both the inside of the driver and passenger door panels, there is vinyl fraying at the bottom, as well as some cracking on the front armrests. The armrests in the back are in very good to excellent condition. Minor blemishes can be found at various locations where brushed aluminium was used as trim. The rear bumper has a few dents from a prior owner hooking up a trailer to the rear of the car. Additionally, there is a small patch of corrosion on the rear bumper above the exhaust pipe on the port side. I included a number of photos to show the extent of these imperfections.
There are non OEM seat belts for both the front seats, but none in the back. The mechanical cruise control works, and the undercarriage is in excellent condition, especially the exhaust system. The manifolds send the exhaust through two independent mufflers, situated mid-ship, before continuing to the exit ports at each corner of the back.

I have a clear title in hand and this car is ready to be enjoyed and driven anywhere.
This car would easily rate a #3 "Good" on Hagerty and is close to a #2 "Excellent”. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have. Additional pictures and videos are readily available, including the undercarriage and rails. I would be happy to have anyone examine the car should they choose to do so. If you have a contact, I can easily set up an appointment, although they will have to come to my house, as I do not wish to put the car on the road during inclement weather, or if they have recently put salt on the roads to melt the ice. I sold my Caddy to a gentleman in Belgium and although I will not set up your shipment, I will make myself available to ensure it is picked up and sent on its way in a timely manner.
