1957 Oldsmobile 98 Starfire J-2 2 Door Hardtop

1957 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Starfire J2

Offered here is a great barn find, a 1957 Oldsmobile 98 Starfire J-2 two door hardtop in silver with a red accent. The car was in a barn here in Connecticut for the past 30 years and is very complete. The only thing that its missing is the original batwing air cleaner. Unfortunately the floor of the barn was dirt so the floors have rust and the drivers side rocker panel is rotted. The trunk floor also has some rust. The frame is in perfect condition and the engine turns over, but it is not currently running. We were told the engine was rebuilt shortly before being put away.The car has a lot of deluxe options including power windows, power antenna, dash clock and a wonderbar radio. The engine is the original 371 cubic inch rocket V8 engine with the original Oldsmobile triple carb setup and the car also retains its original 57 tri- bar hubcaps. We also just put a brand new set of Coker whitewall tires on the car. Amazingly the interior held up quite well, but pretty dirty from the barn and some mice. The headliner also held up pretty well. As you can see it also has a continental kit. What is really neat about the car, is not only is it a starfire 98 J2, but it also never left the town it was sold in, Milford, CT. It still retains the Milford Oldsmobile dealer emblem on the trunk. Overall, the car is in very solid and complete condition and is a great candidate for a restoration.
