Description:

1966 MG MGB

Specially built MGB by a swiss watchmaker over the course of 3 years. Not all MGBs were the same, he early cars like this one made more horsepower from the factory than the smog equipped single carb models of later years. The early cars give a more "seat of the pants" experience where the later cars are more comfortable. Mk1 cars have that "classic" sports car feel with the larger steering wheel, ow back seats and metal dash. Stock is 1800cc and this car is somewhere between 1950 and 2000cc. So right off the bat a little more power. I have an aluminum flywheel that helps the RPM come up a little faster and a Crane 285 "Fast road cam" that helps too. The side-draft Weber DCOE (made in Italy, ot Spain) works great on an overbore engine and has an accelerator pump so no choke is required. The "works" Warneford intake is reported to have better airflow than the more common Canon intake and I have the matching air filter. (nothing gained on the air filter but it "looks" 5 HP into the mix. Flat top pistons equal higher compression ratio and the alloy head has the larger valves for better fuel/air flow. Pertonix ignition gives a nice hot fire to the plugs where the original points carbon up and change the spark over time. I also have Isky molly tube push rods and lifters and the crank/pressure plate and flywheel were all balanced together. My estimate for horsepower in this engine would be 115 to 125. Nothing to alert the media about but well over stock 92 HP. The car pulls nicely in third and fourth gears and passing is not a problem. Modern day tires really make the car stand out in the corners. Upgraded brakes and wheels give the car ample stopping power as well.
The interior is in immaculate condition and offset quite nice with the red soft top. Fully serviced and ready to drive.
This is a very special little car that is great fun to drive through the back roads.
