1952 MG TD/C MARK II ROADSTER, COMPETITION MODEL CarNo. TD/C 17174EXL/NA BodyNo. 16522 / 88730 Engine No. XPAG/TD3/17424 Body Type. 22381 Original Mileage: 24,588 Our TD/C is a numbers-matching example.THIS IS A VERY RARE CAR.1,710 TDC Models were produced out of a production run of 29,664 MGTDs. Approximately 5% of total production. As a result of the demand for a car with the MG TD's classic look, but with better handling characteristics and more power, MG built a limited number of TD/C's, the "C" standing for competition. An additional set of Andrex friction dampers were added to the shock absorbers of the car which was additionally equipped with twin fuel pumps, arger twin (13/4") carburetors, arger intake and exhaust valves, stronger valve springs, arger oil sump and other mechanical modifications. This car has the original radio which was installed in the glove box as a special option. Also, there is an extremely rare,day-night rear view mirror flip up option.Optional heater unit installed. Windwings, tonneau cover, luggage rack, excellent top and side curtains. It has always been parked in a climate-controlled garage, at the residence, and covered for over 30 years !!! Low original mileage. Southern car that looks like it did when it ran in mid-fifties. Wonderful patina.
1952 MGTD/C Mark II Roadster with matching numbers in British Green with Red interior. Comes equipped with its original XPAG engine, soft top, side curtains and tonneau cover. Just came out of the dry state of Arizona where it has been sitting for many years. Very collectible. Excellent car needing some light finishing touches.
Currently, an MG-TD MKII in all original shape is worth some serious money. The NADA Classic Car price guide lists a MG-TD /C.. MK II, which originally cost $2,360, with a low retail of $17,900, average retail of $29,400 and a high retail of $37,500.
TD Mark II Features:
Almost immediately when the MGTD appeared on the market there existed a strong aftermarket of parts and accessories to increase the performance and sportability of the model. The Mark II MGTD, in later years called the TDC, was an attempt by the factory to satisfy the demand for more high performance models.
***Larger carburetors (1½" bore) and increased inlet ports. These carburetors where marked 4031 which aredifferent than the carburetors installed in the later MGTF ( the Original Mark II Carbs will come with car)
***Twin fuel pumps and fuel lines (look at pic of engine)***Amber Marker Lights and plenty of Competition Badges
***Increased rear end axle ratio (to 4.875:1 from 5.125:1)

***Larger valves
***Increased compression ratio (8.6 to 1)
***Increased engine red-line to 6000 rpm by changing the valve gear***All 4 windows are in nice shape.......will be dry if you open ship
Engine Number Codes :
All MGTD engines were marked as XPAG. The following table illustrates the additionalengine number coding scheme for the MGTD XPAG engines. There was no absolute correlation from the chassis or car number but the engine number was generally about 300 - 350 or more larger. The engine number was stamped on the metal chassis plate, on its own octagonal plate on the right bottom front side of the engine and just above this plate, on the block itself. Early TDs had their plates on the left side of the bell-housing (a carry-over from all TCs), and only some later TDs have the engine number stamped on the plinth; many do not.
Code Description:
TD Engines prior to engine 14xxx with 7" clutches
TD2 Engines after engine 14xxx with 8" clutches
TD3 TD/C or Mark II engines after engine 17xxx ...look at (picture of tag hexagonal....XPAG/TD3)....Once again there are only 900 of these Mark II MGTD ever produced....Rarest of the MGTD's
