Description:

1961 Mercury Comet 2 door post

Picked up this Comet last year and drove it this Spring and Summer. I just found a more traditional 30s hot rod I want to build and onluy have 1 garage space so the Comet is up for sale.
The interior has been redone in a nice red seat/white headliner combo. The outside is a decent 15 - 20 footer paint job. There are No Mercury or Ford badges for this car as it is a 2 year-only model after Edsel folded and before it was badged with either Ford or Nercury. Almost all parts are in common with the Falcon tho so parts availability is fine.
The paint is not flawless. There are bubbles and some rust spots here and there but nothing that is rotted or major damage. The window seals need to be replaced and the drivers window should be reset into the up/down crank
Recored radiator with new thermostat. All lights work. Gas gage works. The speedometer does need a new cable tho I don' think anyone will get a speeding ticket in this one!
3 on three manual ("factory theft pevention") shifts great and runs smooth. New battery, new fan belt, car charges as it's supposed to. Stops, and steers very very well. Feels like it has power steering but it doesn't - a nice easy turn lock to lock.
Has an aftermarket cassette player mounted under the dash and a choke knob mounted under steering column but that's about it for non-original items.
The hubcaps aren't all matching (inc a chevy!! one)
Car stars right up even in sub 40 degree weather. Car is registered and insured, passed MASS safety inspepction and I have a clear Massachusetts title in my name.
