1966 Mercury Colony Park

Hello Ebayers

I bought this car from ebay a little over a year ago. I fell in love with the interior more than anything. I used it for trips up and down PCH, and outings with the family and taking the guys to go golfing. It has been a fun car, but its time to let someone else look after it.I just have too many cars!There is paperwork that goes with the car that goes back quite a few years, but it is not complete. Everything the previous seller said about the car was true for the exception of the paint. I would classify the interior as “survivor”, yet the exterior as “driver quality” It shows signs of a repaint and minor hail damage. Please be aware, this will not be a show winner without a paint job. It does start every time. I recently had the carburetor rebuilt, and it runs even better, although slightly rich. I would adjust that if you plan to drive it often. I am the 3rd owner, yet never transferred title. This means you can be the third owner on record.Also, the radio does not work but it comes with a spare.

Work I performed. Washed it, Waxed it Detailed it, Changed the oil, spark plugs, wires, points, rebuilt the carb, replaced rear window motor. Always ran 91 octane with lead additive. Also purchased a car cover and a red suitcase to store it in.

WHEELS

Stock wheels with new white wall tires and 3 sets of hubcaps are included. The Centerline smoothie wheels were purchased to appeal to a different buyer. They are not included in this auction, but if you want them I will sell them to you at the end of the auction. They have new tires as well purchased on 7/10/16.

Things I would fix; Adjustcarburetor. Fixrip in driver seat should be easily fixed with a patch from the underside, then filled. (I have seen this done and you cant tell there was ever a rip) I would route exhaust out the sides so less fumes come in when back window is down, fix the radio, find the leak in the AC system. Fix slow transmission leak. Fix the antenna (it broke during transport and I still have it) I would leave the paint alone considering the cost, and its really not bad. Look at the pics.

Car is located in Long Beach California and is for sale locally. I reserve the right to end auction early due to local sale. I have tried to list everything here, including text from previous auction. Please come look at it, or send someone to verify what I am saying.

$500 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction close for the winning bidder. I accept paypal if you pay any fees or a bank transfer. Cash works too.I can work with you to ship the car.

Here is the text from the previous seller;

Original, unmolested, two owner Texas car-- the true definition of “survivor”.

Only 45,000 miles-- Starts and drives perfectly-- always maintained, serviced and garage kept.

I am the second owner of this car, having purchased it in 1992, the car has spent its entire life in the Texas Hill Country.With the exception of very minor surface rust (as seen in photos) it is a rust free car.It has not been restored so there are no worries of damage or rust being covered up.The wagon is a 9 passenger with a folding rear seat and two way rear gate/door.The motor is a rare factory “stroker” motor option only available for two years (FE Marauder:410cid 4bl - 330hp/ 444torque).With this motor option came the upgraded C6 transmission (Multi-DriveMerc-O-Matic).It was further optioned with the upgraded spinner hubcaps (complete matching second set comes with the car), and an AM/FM radio (functioning perfectly).It has factory A/C which is fully original and intact-- the compressor is free but will only hold a charge for a few months.Because I do not drive the car in extreme heat or cold I have not kept it charged nor have I attempted to have the leak resolved (opting to simply keep it original).

The car is currently insured through Hagerty who appraised its replacement value at $23,000.

Some of the photos come from its recent use in a film documentary of the 60s.

A brief history of this particular model:In 1965, Colony Park was promoted to "the Lincoln Continental of station wagons", when it was given the Lincoln Continental's suspension package.It continued to enjoy this distinction through its final year.

The 1966 Colony Park was fitted with Ford's two-way "Magic Doorgate", which was designed to fold down like a conventional tailgate and also swing sideways like a door. Mercury also introduced a feature where windflow was directed across the rear window through channels integrated and covered with the "D" pillar. This also allowed fresh air to enter into the rear of the vehicle if the rear window was retracted into the tailgate.

On third-generation Colony Parks, the standard engine was a 390cuin (6.4L) FE V8 with 270 horsepower. From 1966 to 1967, the 410cuin (6.7L) FE "Marauder" V8 with 330 horsepower was an option.
