Up for sale is a 1977 450SL Convertible. Comes with both the hard top and soft top. If you are looking than you know the 73-79 450SL Mercedes are highly sought after and collectable vehicles today and were the top dog Mercedes back in the day. It has been garage kept its entire life. I only drive it in the nice weather with the top off.

It is the most desirable color combination. Pastel Blue exterior, Dark Blue interior, Midnight Blue hard top, and a Dark Blue soft top. This car also has the matching wheel option, The midnight blue wheels really tie the car together as they match the hard top. The exterior paint is 80% original factory paint. The passenger side fender and the hood have been repainted before I purchased the car. I would rate the paint 7 out of ten. THIS IS NOT A PERFECT SHOW CAR, it is a driver quality car. There are some cosmetic imperfections such as dull clear coat on the trunk, a few spots that could use touching up (SEE PHOTOS). If this were a cosmetically perfect car it would be selling $20k. Please do not expect perfection because I am not asking anywhere close to the price of perfection.

Undercarriage and floors have no rust/rot as the car has been garaged and only driven in nice weather.

The interior is in excellent condition. I would rate it 8 out of 10. No major rips, cracks, or tears in the leather and no major cracks across the dash. All the original plastic pieces and knobs are there and in great shape. And the radio and speakers work.

The engine is mechanically sound and runs and drives well. JUST HAD MAJOR SERVICE DONE that cost over $1000 (see photo of receipt). Has 2019 NYS Inspection. The engine and transmission operate properly. It drives smooth and straight. When you drive it you can feel that it has been well maintained. Could use a new exhaust pipe in the next few years has a small leak but it was fine for my occasional use. The steering column could use some adjustment. Tiny bit of play in steering box and the signal indicator arm does not go up to indicate a right turn.Shifter linkage works but is one letter off, still shifts into park, reverse, neutral, and drive fine. Transmission shifts are crisp and shifts well. Small noise coming from rear end but only at low speeds. Will need a new speedometer cable as speedometer and odometer are currently not working. Stopped working after winter storage this year.

The air conditioning does not work. I never fixed it or bothered with it because i only drive it with the windows open or the top down. I do not know if it needs a new compressor or just a recharge because it never mattered to me.

In summation this a nice original driver quality car. It is not a show car hence the reason why im not asking a show car price. It looks great from 10 feet away. Could be easily restored to perfection with a paint job and some TLC (which would also dramatically increase the value of the car). Or use it like i have to go cruising to the beach on the weekends and nice days and not have to worry about where you parked it or rock chips from driving on the highways. Restored this car is worth $15,000-$20,000
