1985 Mercedes-Benz 500-Series 500SEL

**NO RESERVE** 1985 500SEL W126 Euro Mercedes-Benz
Euro VIN WDB1260371A151207eBay Doesn't seem to care for it.
How quickly ten years go by... I've had this car for ten years, it was purchased as a project to solve my itch for a W126 sedan. As you can see I didn't make much progress during my decade of ownership. My better half and I have a deal with my car fetish, I can have as many projects as I desire however they must be finished inside of ten years. She won on this one and now you get a neat W126 with some hard to find options.
Some background on the car, I started to disassemble it for two reasons. First is the car was owned by a gentleman who smoked cigars and while the car smells pleasant it has a yellow patina on all surfaces inside the vehicle. It comes off easy enough but you really need to take things apart to get them clean. You can see in some of the pictures what the pieces look like before and after being cleaned. It's not hard work but it is time consuming.
Second reason I took the car apart. It had no radio but did have the remains of an aftermarket stereo that had been half removed. I intended to install the 2nd Gen W126 rear shelf and door cards with additional speakers. I intended to put in a McIntosh head unit I have and that would require a trunk mounted amp and brain boxes. This project never got accomplished. There is no head unit but there are four speakers installed.
I've only put a few thousand miles on the car since purchasing it. When I bought the car it had a really poor Bosch emission control system to federalize it. The brain was malfunctioning and I removed it and put in a euro fuel plate as well as a new warm up regulator. The engine starts and runs just fine. Spark plugs were changed to the correct Bosch plugs that are no longer made.
The brakes on this car have failed while it's been sitting. This car is not safe to drive away and must be transported via trailer to it's final destination.
The neat stuff... It has Gen I Euro front and rear bumpers. It has working vacuum adjustable headlights. It has a working Fuel Computer in the dash cluster. Both front seats are heated and have orthopedic lumbar that still works. It's a Euro spec car that should be pretty cool after someone put's it back together again.
I don't know if this car is better off as a parts car or put back together to be a driver. It has a clean Wisconsin title.
The passenger side rear window does not go up. I will attempt to get it to go up for transport otherwise plastic will be needed to seal up the car.
I'm traveling January 3rd - January 10th, pickup during this time will not be possible. I will work with you any way I can to accommodate you outside of those days.
This car needs a new home, it needs someone with time, tools and knowledge. It's a project, some would say a basket case, either way it's got some parts on it that are desirable.
