Description:

1979 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 300CD

This 1979 project vehicle is a rust free arizona vehicle with some great possibilities. The vehicle could be a daily driver with some minor investment, or with some effort it could be a great project vehicle. The engine and transmission are solid it runs well and shifts well. The body is straight and has chrome in excellent condition. To drive it on a daily basis, it will require a grease, lube and tire rotation. The front and back glass are in great condition, it has a 2015 battery and turns over well. Here are a list of issues that should be addressed.
We have assembled all of the parts and have two parts cars available to assist with any needs.
1) Trunk Lock should be replaced, vehicle had trunk mechanism failure and a small penetration hole was piloted to open the truck. 2) Dash board is cracked and dashboard glove box needs a replacement spring.3) The leather interior on the doors and pillars is in great shape for a car of this age, however the drivers side matte has a wear patch and should be replaced.4) The window switches will need to be replaced and a screw is missing from the back seat drivers side actuator. All window actuators work. Switches need to be replaced.5) Sunroof motor works, track needs to be cleaned6) A/C compressor should be replaced. The vehicle comes with a replacement compressor.7) A/C climate control switch needs to be replaced, vehicle comes with replacement A/C controller. Motor fan works excellently.8) Please see photos of the interior, there are cracks on the passenger front seat, on the edge of the drivers front seat and in the back seat. (please see photos)9) most of the wood trim is in good condition with the exception of the center consul wood, to make it a show vehicle this needs to be replaced.10) The seat adjustment handle on the drivers seat is broken, however the seat adjustment system is in working order.11) The seals around the glass on the front and the back of the vehicles windshield should be replaced, they have dried with age.12) The vehicle metallic grey blue needs to be repainted.13) The car has some fairly common 300d run on, we have a replacement vacuum pump that will go along with the vehicle.
Please see that photos of the vehicle and remember if you are unfamiliar with these vehicles that it is a 37 year old vehicle. If you know Benz 300 series then you know that the engine has another quarter million miles of life on it and that the 300cd's are getting more valuable as they age. Our original plan was to replace the interior trouble spots, dash and repaint. The vehicle would have a solid sales price with the effort.
I have parts available with the car to assist you in the effort.
The drive train and body are excellent, the chrome is excellent, the frame is straight and it is rust free. Great classic Mercedes, that will grow in value.
We have a number of parts vehicles here and can assist with the supply of the parts that will bring this vehicle back to full value. It is a wonderful project vehicle with a lot of potential. Or it can be a fun car to drive with some basic lube and rotation and to chip away on the weekend. Please ask questions I will ensure that they are posted on line during the sale period.
We have a 81 300d Euro that has a 90 mile engine and transmission here as well. If I was doing this myself, I would put the low mileage drive train in it. Purchase a new rear seat cover and front seat back, replace the dash and paint it. Given the current market the vehicle could hold a 10,000 - 12000 dollar resale with some effort. Thanks for reading and looking!
