If you are local and in Southern California and would like to take a look at the Jeep, ear it run, ven drive it around the block, ou are welcome to do that, lease let me know.
For sale is a 1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. This was the final edition of the Jeep Grand Wagoneers with the last one of these vehicles rolling off the assembly line in Toledo Ohio June 21, 991. There were ONLY 1,560 Grand Wagoneers built in 1991. The Jeep Grand Wagoneers are very collectible (I have more than a few myself) and the 91's are the most collectible fetching prices in the $50K, 60K and above range and getting more valuable. (do a Google search for Wagonmaster and click on Inventory to get an idea of potential value)If you know about the Jeep Grand Wagoneers, ou know what you are looking at and at the starting price, an certainly see the potential. I was going to re do this Jeep and bring it back to it's showroom glory. I like to do the work but I just do not have the time anymore. I had budgeted about $3,000 to complete what needed to be done on this Jeep. I'll cover that later in here.
This Jeep is located in Southern California but spent most of it's life in the snow in Philadelphia. Currently registered in Nevada until October of 2016. Mechanically, his Jeep is VERY solid. This is one of the few Grand Waogoneers that ever got a factory moon roof. Tinted glass, he moon roof works, pens, loses and flips up smoothly, o catching or binding.. Completely rebuilt transmission with only about (possibly less than) 1000 miles on it since rebuild. New radiator, ew hoses and belts. New fan clutch. New Thermostat. New high output alternator. Recently rebuilt carburetor. New manual fuel pump. (I also have a new electric fuel pump on it as well but was not original equipment) New fuel level sending unit. New steering dampener. Engine has had regular fluid changes and maintenance and starts and runs great. No knocking, icking, tc. Solid acceleration. Jeep runs and drives great. Mechanically, verything is working except for A/C compressor which needs to be rebuilt. This happened recently. Until that point, t pumped out ice cold air. The vehicle has not had to be smogged for years because of where it is registered. The vacuum lines for the smog equipment have been blocked but everything is there and I don't imagine it would have any significant issues being smogged again if it is purchased by anyone who would need it smogged.
Body condition of the Jeep. Most of the clear coat on the roof and hood and top portions have come off and paint is faded. Original color is Black Cherry. There are some spots of rust on the front fender shown in the photos. These spots are not through. I was going to sand and glaze them before a repaint. There are holes in the rear fenders behind the drive wheels. These are through the metal but the wheel wells are solid and intact, o holes and there are no holes in the floors, n fact, loors are very solid. I was going to cut the metal and weld in new sheet metal for the rear. They also make and sell the panels to replace the rear fenders but they were for a much larger area. These holes aren't that big, couple of small pieces of sheet metal would have been all that was required to repair them. There is a hole that was cut in the rear tail gate by a mechanic while on a road trip when the rear window would not go up. He got the window up but then I couldn't get it down so I have removed the motor for the rear window. Not sure if it is still in there and just loose or floating around somewhere. I have not seen it in the garage so it is possible that it is still in the tail gate. I had a replacement tailgate that was going to go on this one but ended up using it on a different one (like I said, have more than a few) It is missing the hood ornament. All of the doors, ailgate, verything else are solid, pen, lose and lock and are not rusted. Has original Jeep receiver hitch. Headlights have been upgraded and use the H4 halogen bulb. Not shown but included in the sale are the original Jeep chrome center caps for the wheels. Tires have great tread on them but are about ten years old.
Interior. Interior color is Oxblood which is a Burgundy. I have pulled out the headliner so that it could be replaced. I have all of the trim and sun visors to be replaced with a new headliner. The carpet is in pretty good condition still and the dashboard and door panels are in excellent condition with no cracks or tears. The front seats have the typical issues one would expect from 25 year old leather seats but the fabric panels in the seats still look great. The back seat is in excellent condition but I was going to have the leather panels on the lower portions of both front seats replaced. Power windows and locks all work. Electric lock mechanisms could stand a cleaning and lubrication. Power front seats, oth working. Original Jeep AM/FM Cassette stereo. Original Jensen Accoustisound speaker covers front and back. Quartz clock and all gauges work. Heat works, ir worked until bearing in compressor went out. Has matching, orking cargo cover. Have the chrome trim strips for cargo area as well.
My plan as I said was to fix it up and add it to my collection but I just don't have time so if i can find someone who wants to do it and love it then that is a better option than just sitting in my driveway or office parking lot which is where it spends most of its time.
My next steps if I were going to keep it. I was going to pull out the seats and have the bad leather panels in the front seats replaced. Pull out the carpet to remove the body from the chassis. I was going to send the chassis out for sandblasting then was going to repaint everything with a fresh coat of self etching primer and glass black paint. Was going to clean and power wash the bottom of the body while it was off of the chassis and primer and undercoat body. Once that was done, as going to reassemble, ut out the metal from rear wheel wells and weld in new sheet metal. I was then going remove all of the windows and trim, and and paint the entire jeep. Put the interior back in with new headliner and repaired seats (and recovered steering wheel). Replace glass and trim and have an excellent running and looking collectors Jeep easily worth $50/60K or more. Doing most of the work myself (I would not have sandblasted the chassis, one the upholstery or headliner work myself) it would have cost me about $3K
I will try and add some photos of the engine, have not taken them yet, ake a look, et me know if you have any questions. If you are local and would like to check it out on person, am happy to try and accommodate that, ust let me know.
