1981 GMC Jimmy

Meet Big Jim! This is a great running and driving 1981 GMC Jimmy K5 trail rig.
Upgrades/updates: It has been lifted, has fresh front brakes, the 350 is a 1991 (or so) TPI 350 (center valve cover bolts, but not a Vortec) that has a pretty nice cam (unsure of which one, but it sounds great and makes a good deal of power) and gear-drive (it's a bit noisy), full length headers, Edelbrock carb and intake, new high torque (gear driven) starter, 3.73 gears front and back true dual exhaust interior has been bedlined has a single seat from a Mustang in the back for comfort and visibility (I also have the original bench, though it needs to be re-upholstered) GPS for a speedometer, as the original speedometer doesn't work; it appears to be an issue with the transfer case speedo gears, as the speedometer works fine when you drive the cable with a drill. This is a trail/hunting rig, meant for off road use only. It starts right up, runs beautifully, turns heads with its nice idle lope, drives like a lifted K5, 4x4 works well (although the transfer case gear pointer is broken - it's easy to tell whether you're in 2WD, 4H, N, or 4L), the front windows go up and down, vents open, and the heater is brilliant. It has never overheated on me, and has just been a solid, reliable truck. It comes with a half-shell that could use some cosmetic work, but is very strong, some extra doors, and the GPS I use as a speedometer (and, well, GPS...).
The bad: the tail gate doesn't have a complete window mechanism. It has the glass and most of the hardware, but it's missing a few pieces to make the window work again (needs a new motor, switch, and channels for the rollers, at least). It does leak a bit of oil, but remember; it an imperfect, 38 year old GMC... The speedometer doesn't work, as mentioned above, but the other gauges work fine. The body has been dented up a bit (again, it's a trail rig, but it isn't loaded with rust - very minor spots on the floor), so it won't win any beauty contests, but it will do its best to get you anywhere you want to go (laws of physics may nullify its efforts...). It could use new tires, but these roll down the road just fine. It has no catalytic converter or EGR setup, so if you intend to make it street legal, you will need to get those sorted (if your city/state requires it). It has no stereo.
