1978 GMC Vandura LRP CAMPER

* 251,771 speedometer cable disconnected since purchase. Original factory keys on vintage DICE keychain. Rare LRP Camper edition. Rare original beautiful vintage '70's paint. Vintage NRA stickers on driver and passenger wing glass.
Van was rescued from a barn in Amity, Oregon. She sat there for 8 years. Belonged to the local sheriff who passed away. Was restoring. Using as Summer camper. Ran beautiful. Major power. Tracked straight as an arrow. Good brakes. Not a single leak. Good power steering. Most comfortable bed! Sink and fridge excellent. Was literally like going back in time. Just like going with grandma and grandpa camping in the '70s and '80s. Emotional experience every time I took her out. A world now gone, but with this I van I was teleported back in time. lol!
Was returning from Tillamook Forest camping and started making a loud engine knock sound. Overheated. Had towed back home. Mechanic friend says ROD KNOCK. Needs complete engine rebuild. I love the van, not enough time, tools or workshop to complete restoration. Van has been parked since tow.
I'm listing it here because I know there has to be someone out there who is in love with it as I am and who is passionate about restoring her and keeping her on the road as a classic piece of Americana. I know there is a home for this van.
I cannot let myself send her to the junkyard. She must live!
