Really amazing un-restored vehicle! Never any rust or accidents with no bumpers, glass or trim ever removed and is a one owner car. Engine and transmission never apart. It was special ordered in March, 1987 from Robberson Ford in Prineville, OR by one of my longtime female customers who was a retired nurse. Before this car, she owned a Candyapple Red 1968 Shelby GT350 Convertible that she bought new, and a 1957 Fairlane Skyliner retractable hardtop convertible that she also bought new. She ordered it up in OR as the sales taxes were less than CA and almost all dealers in CA were marking up the new "Aero" Fox Body 1987 Mustangs several 1000's of dollars above sticker price. Robberson Ford ordered it for her at MSRP which most dealers were not willing to do on a special order car. Car was built to her special order specs in April 1987 and shipped to Robberson Ford where she kept it up there for the spring and summer of 1987, then drove it down to her 8 months of the year home in warm and dry Palm Springs, CA in September 1987 where it has been garage kept since. She kept it registered in Oregon as registration was considerably less expensive than CA until her death at the age of 94 this past May. She left the car to her 45 year old grandson who brought it to me to sell for him as he already has 3 cars and didn't need or want another. He put less than 100 miles on it and although he loved it, he admitted he is not a collector, or even a car person. I own a Mustang shop and have done a great deal of the maintenance on this car in the past 25 years. She was very meticulous with the oil changes every 3K miles or one a year, which ever came first. All fluids and filters were religiously changed on time or before. I've probably changed the transmission, rear end, and power steering fluids on this car 5X each for her in the past 25 years. That was just the type of person she was. She liked to keep her "equipment" as she called it in top notch condition at all times. She often told me this car was the most reliable, most fun car she had ever driven. She took the utmost care of it. Car has never been to a machine car wash and was always lovingly hand washed and waxed by her. In fact, she would even come to my shop and have me put her car on the lift for her to clean (and wax!!) the inside of the wheels and underside at least a few times per year even in her 90's! If I didn't tell you the car had 84K miles, you'd think it had less than 10K miles. The fact that it has been driven and enjoyed is what has kept it so well preserved. Many of the miles in the past 15 years were from her taking this car to various Mustang and Ford shows through out CA, AZ and NV. She won over 50 1st place trophies with this car over the years. Super low mileage ones tend to get dried up seals and start leaking everywhere when then put into use. Nothing leaks on this one and nothing ever has. Car has been caught in the rain less than 5 times in its whole life according to her and I believe it. The dealership professionally applied undercoating to the underside floorboards before the car was delivered per her request which has preserved the underside beautifully and also cuts down on road noise considerably. The original Scarlet Red paint on body is very nice with a few thin spots and a few small dab touch ups where there were chips here and there. There are no scratches, dents, or dings. With original paint, you know there is nothing hiding under the paint. It is almost impossible to find one of these cars where the bodies and undersides are so clean and un-fiddled with. The survivor cars are the whole new trend now and this one shows beautifully. How many 32 year old cars have never been apart and never had any paint work or accidents? Every body panel has it's original VIN sticker on it. Most older cars don't drive as well as they look....this one ABSOLUTELY does and is a blast to drive and easy to drive. It doesn't have all the computers and sensors that new cars have. This car is simple, inexpensive and easy to maintain. It gets thumbs up where ever you go and cruises at freeway speeds with ease, Car does not ever stall, is never hard to start, does not have any flat spots, and does not run hot even in the hottest of days in traffic. Even when sitting for 2 weeks, 1 turn of the key and she roars to life, first time, every time!! It is also very easy to drive and a great amount of fun. Brakes are like a brand new car. It stops on a dime! Steering is tight and responsive with no play. This car is exceptionally nice from top to bottom!! Any other collector car you may be looking at, make sure they have underside shots. Even super low mileage cars if stored in humid area, the undersides are rusty and corroded just from moisture in the air. This one is super clean and the many underside pictures show this. You can see all the original markings, tags, crayon scribbles, and even the black out factory pinch weld spray that Ford did. This car is as solid as can be! Car was special ordered with few options which makes it very rare. The LX models had the same drive-train and suspension as the GT, but with out all the extra bulky ground effects and weight of the GT. All the road test results found the LX 5.0 Sport model to be the fastest of the 87-93 Mustangs. If you pulled a Marti Report on this car, I am pretty confident, that this car is probably a 1 of 1 built like it with Scarlet Red exterior (was a 87-89 model years only color and much rarer than the more common, darker Cabernet Red), black power top with glass rear window, Smoke Grey cloth interior, 5.0 V8 High Output engine, cruise control, 2.73 ratio traction lock 8.8" differential, automatic overdrive 4 speed automatic transmission, and power mirrors. I've never seen another V8 Mustang convertible EVER from 87-93 with out A/C and power windows. That's the way she wanted it, so that's the way she ordered it!! Who needs A/C with the top down anyway? Every time she drove it the top was down. How many of the unmolested cars are on the road, let alone in this condition still today? I am sure you won't find another like it, or even close!! It will continue to climb and climb in value. Fox bodies that are un-messed with have skyrocketed in price the past few years and I am confident will continue to go up and up. Original convertible top has no fading, wear marks, or cuts. Power top works properly and is as fast as it was new. Engine has never been apart. Suspension and steering is tight with no wandering or looseness, no clunks when going over bumps, brakes stop on a dime, parking brake works properly, very clean interior and underside. Owner's manual still in the original glove box. No worn down seat cloth upholstery or foam here. In some of the interior pictures the seats look like they are lighter and darker shades....this is because I just had my worker shampoo the seats and they were not fully dry when I took the pictures. These seats are VERY comfortable even on longer trips!! Much more comfortable than the GT seats. Inside of the truck boasts the original trunk liners, mat, convertible top boot/carrying cover, spare tire/jack, and plastic mudflaps that have been on the car since new that have kept the bottom of the car road rash free. I am VERY picky with vehicles I choose to deal with and I know this car well unlike brokers or re-sellers that list cars and know very little about them. In summary: EVERYTHING works properly as intended except for the fuel gauge works intermittently which is most likely the sending unit which is a less than $100 part if it bothers you. Before it gets to 1/4 tank it shows No burnt out bulbs anywhere. The dash lights, gauges, signals, etc all work perfectly and are accurate. All silk screening on the dash levers and switches are like new. Ashtray/cigarette lighter have never been used and car has never been smoked in. Ashtray door even opens and closes properly and arm rest pads are not all warped like most. Even the console door is not broken like most are. You can let it idle all day in 100+ degree heat and it does not get hot. Other than the newer original Ford 16" 91-93 Mustang Pony wheels that I installed for her around in 1994, and the CD payer that I put in for her around 2013, this car is all original Ford issue. This beautiful Mustang is absolutely like a step back in time. It runs and drives excellent and has never been raced or driven hard. There are no odd odors, odd rattles, or odd noises. It passed smog like a brand new car this past June (picture of the readings in picture link) and there is no smoke that comes out of the exhaust. I can let it sit for 2 weeks and it drips nothing in my air conditioned and humidity controlled warehouse. Doors close solid with a thump. You can drive thiscar anywhere. Mileage may also varyminimallyascar may be driven for supervised test drives and/or inspections and I do drive it after letting it warm up to keep fluids flowing through all systems.
