This Rangoon Red Sport Roof is a rare optioned special dso factory order built fifty four years ago in Los Angeles California

This automobile is in unbelivable original condition, it is as clean on the bottom as it is on top. It is a close to a new 1964 as you will find in a 54 year old classic. The body is near perfect, no accidents just a few very minor paint imperfections, it has been stored out side two days out of the last half a century . The big 300 hpThunderbird fires up and runs strong with no issues as does the Cruise O Matic automatic and the heavy duty Ford 9 inch rear end.

1964 FORD MOTOR COMPANY was all about "TOTAL PERFORMANCE"

Full size flyer Ford motor company enjoyed one of its best Nascar seasons in 1964. Comencing with Dan Gurneys win at the Riverside 500 in January. Fords were in the winners circle at every 500-mile race and won 23 Grand Nationals in all.

For one last time, 1964 Ford Divisons reskinned it full size body shell. A Quality Control Program insitiuted in 1961 had by now achieved satisfying results. Historically, the 64 Ford may not seem significant -basically just a 5 year-year-old design set to be fazed out for the all new 1965, the most changed Ford passenger car since 1949. But for collectors its pefect. The 1964 Ford stands quite alone as the ultimate Total Performance Ford .

The 1964 is evolutionary and reached near perfection in the process. Though mechanical specs were basicly the same as in 1963,styling had been carefully dictated by the aero dynamics of racing. Even the body panels were designed to be lighter than the 1963s. There were three 500 models: the convertible and two and four door hardtops both with the fastback roof from 1963 ½ . The public agreed with Motor Trend magazine which gave it's "Car of the Year" honors to the entire 1964 Ford line, including the full size models. Because of the strong quality control effort, Galaxies and other big Fords wore like iron. With that kind of quality many were driven for 10 years or 200k miles they lasted a long time because they didn't show their age. Rare is the low mileage 64 as this was not the kind of car you bought and put away in your garage.
