1968 Mustang

This pro-built Pro-Touring 1968 Ford Mustang coupe has every trick you could want under its glowing white skin. Trading on a Shelby-esque look, it packs serious firepower in the form of an injected small block, a highly functional interior, and a reworked suspension that'll keep it tight with some pretty serious hardware.

Sometimes you know a car is right from the start, and this is one of those cars. With bright white paint and traditional Guardsman Blue stripes, it will certainly stand out anywhere it goes, but it also nails the stance and adds a few custom details that will make necks snap back for a second look. Shelby-style details include a billet grille, faired-in scoops on the quarter panels, and the glassed-in ducktail spoiler out back looks especially trick when combined with body-colored Mustang taillights. Of course, it goes without saying that the bodywork underneath is very nicely done and the paint has been buffed to a brilliant shine that shows off the vivid white finish to great effect. There's a slight dome in the hood that's a bit reminiscent of the Eleanor Mustangs, plus a deep chin spoiler that's a cool change from the usual stuff. Fresh chrome bumpers add some contrast, and all the little details that make Mustangs so beloved are still intact, including the 5.0 emblems and Shelby-style gas cap out back

You'll be absolutely blown away by the upgrades inside. Deeply bolstered buckets from Procar have been upholstered in black leather with 5.0 embroidery on the headrests, and the rear bench has been finished to match. The stock door panels look especially slick with their brushed aluminum inserts, which go great with the dashboard full of Dakota Digital gauges. A stock steering column and a billet 3-spoke steering wheel make it easy to get comfortable, and your hand will naturally fall on the custom shifter for the 5-speed manual gearbox. A custom center console adds cup holders and a more performance-oriented look, and a Pioneer AM/FM/Bluetooth stereo with speakers scattered throughout the interior. In back, the trunk is neatly finished with black carpets, so it looks tidy and professional without adding any weight.

But the hardware is the real star of this show. The engine is a fuel-injected 5.0 from a 1991 Mustang that's been rebuilt and fortified for combat. Up top there's an Edelbrock intake manifold that any 5.0 fan will recognize instantly, as well as a bunch of chrome and polished aluminum dress-up. A big Griffin aluminum radiator keeps the hot small block cool, and there's a custom serpentine belt setup for the polished accessories up front. The T5 5-speed manual transmission was rebuilt at the same time as the engine and gives this vintage pony a very up-to-date feel. With upgrades like a coil-over front suspension, tubular control arms, and rack-and-pinion steering, handling is exceptional. Four-wheel discs provide all the stopping power you'll need, and with block-hugging headers and Flowmasters, you'll have no problems getting attention. The rear end is an 8.8 out of a Ford Explorer (hence the rear-wheel discs) and it sits on 17-inch REV wheels with fresh performance radials.
