Description:

1929 Ford Model A

This car was featured on the cover and a full spread in Car Kulture DeLuxe magazine June 2015, and was awarded "Best Hot Rod" at the Autorama show, presented by Barry Meguiar in 2014. Incredible thought and consideration was used to make this the perfect representation of the pre-war, pre flathead V8, dry-lakes racing era which it represents. Nothing was spared in making this the perfect reproduction of the time. The car is currently registered as a 1929 Ford (which it is), insured and driven with restored 1929 CA platesAt present there are1350 Miles on the new build and there are no known problems or issues. The engine is an H&H 4 cylinder with insert bearings, counterweighted crankshaft, pressurized oil system with traditional speed equipment such as dual Strombergs on a Thomas aluminum manifold, Thomas aluminum 7.0:1cylinder head, Mallory distributor, HPC coated header and touring camshaft to produce about 100-110 hp versus the original 40 hp. The block has been bored and liners inserted to the original bore diameter as part of the H&H process for solid four bangers. Hardened valve seats replace the originals and the engine has been balanced. A lightened flywheel and V8 clutch replace the original Model A parts. The transmission is a Mitchell synchronized unit with 15% higher ratios in 1st and 2nd gear and 1:1 drive in 3rd. The rear end is 3.54:1 to allow 65 mph cruise at approx 2600 rpm. The wheels are 1935 Ford 16 inch with Firestone "Piecrust" bias-ply tires. The 7.00x16 rear and 5.00x16 front tires have been shaved and balanced to be perfectly round for a very smooth ride at highway speeds. The Optima battery and hydraulic brake reservoir are located under the front seat. The hydraulic brakes are a donor from a 1940 Ford and work smooth and efficiently. The stance is provided by reverse-eye springs and a 4 inch Super Bell dropped I-beam axle. As detailed in the pictures, the spark retard, idle speed adjustment and carb enrichment are all as stock in the cockpit but are nonfunctional and no longer required. The interior seems to be made from convertible top material; it looks and feels great. Mounted on the front of the seat riser are battery cutoff switch, starter button and dash light switch. The car has lots of torque, is extremely docile, easy to drive and has been totally reliable. . The car is also listed locally so may be withdrawn at any time.
