This Torinowas manufactured in theAtlanta factory inJuly of 1969 in the midst of the muscle car wars. It sat on the lot atAJ Loudon Ford in Salem,Ohio for roughlySeven months before the original owner handed overthe cash to drive it home. We have the original Ford Owner Card, riginal Build Sheet (Found Inside Car During Restoration), riginal Buyers Invoice and Original Title when this car was sold new. This car was loved by the original owner as well as the service manager at AJ Loudon who kept tabs on it and performed maintenance throughout its life. The car remained in decent shape, ven before its comprehensive restoration. When the Service manager at AJ Loudon heard that the original owner was considering restoration, e knew it was time to convince him tosell the car to him so hecould put this vehicle back to its original condition for concourse shows and judging. The vehicle than changed handsand was in the hands of theService Manager who has known the car since new.

From this point the carunderwent afull, o expense spared, nut and bolt, otisserie restoration that took 2 years to complete. The car is correct inside and out. It was finished back to the original Candyapple Red (Ford #2008-A) paint, his is one of just681 documented Cobras ever builtto wear this color brand new. The all steel bodyis Pristine withperfect gappingand Laser straight finish. The paintwork is Immaculate and shows well from every possible angle. Underneaththe car is finishedwith the same perfection as the rest of the vehicle witheach panelflat and factory correct, iven the size and shape of those panels, hat’s awfully important on this car.

Fit and finish is well above what the factory offered. This car has smooth operation of doors, runk and hood.It alsomaintains even gaps all around. While most enthusiasts are probably more familiar with this car’s sloped siblings, he vinyl-covered Formal Roof lends a sleeper vibe that even a fastback couldn’t pull off. Complementing the sea ofCandyapple red is a tasteful array of trim pieces with a few subtlebadging to let other drivers know this is no ordinary Torino. Up front, black rectangular grille is wrapped in stainless trim with a pair of headlights anchoring either side. Turn signals are built into the fenders, eatly worked into the stainless trim that ties into a body-hugging chrome bumper. The hood scoop is the first real indicator that this is no regular grocery-getter. Combine the fresh “Cobra Jet 428” badges on either side of that scoop with the Cobra emblems found on the front fenders and any basic gearhead knows this car packs a punch and is the Real Deal. The vinyl top looks great as does the glass and stainless trim incorporated into its gently sloping shape. Out back, quared taillights anchor a “Ford” emblemand one final Cobra emblem. Another tightly fitting chrome bumper rounds out the rear end. Lift the hood and you’ll find the original R-code 428 Cobra Jet V8 which displays a correct casting number and matching9A45R289233 partial VIN. While Ford brass rated these engines at 335, hey probably had a hard time keeping a straight face. Real world numbers were closer to 400hp, llowing this sizeable car 13-second quarter mile passes with some basic tuning.

At full throttle, he flapper valve opens, rawing cool air through the correctly decaled air cleaner cover and into to a C90F-H Holley four-barrel carburetor. The original intake manifold remains in place between a pair of Cleveland heads dressed in finned 428 valve covers. The powerplant breathes through cast iron manifolds that exhale intothe dual exhaust system. Looking around the bay, ll the usual parts are here including the stock front mount oil cooler, elocated horn, utolite-branded hoses and a tagged Autolite Sta-Ful battery. Peek underneath to find an exceptionally clean undercarriage with satin black floors. This car drives smooth down the road with the C-6 Cruise-O-Matic Transmission. From there, ower is channeled down the driveshaft out to the Ford 9-inch Traction-Lok differential. An original Drag Pack car, his Torino leftAtlanta with 3.91 gears. The suspension remains in stock form with double A-arms at the front and parallel leaf springs out pack. Look closely and you’ll note the correct stock staggered shock configuration is in place out back. Braking is an easy process with power disc brakes up front and power drums in the rear. The chassis meets the road through a set of Argent styled steel wheels wrapped inthe correct GoodyearPolyglas F70-14’s that further the cars sleeper look.

Between those sizeable doors, black vinyl interior with Bucket seats offers the one thing many basic muscle cars didn’t have – comfort. While theBucket front seats may not look like the lap of luxury at first, brief stint behind the wheel will unveil how comfortable they really are. From that seat, t’s easy to admire the simple but effective details that made this Cobra stand out from the crowd. At the ground level, resh black carpet covers the rock solid floors, hile an equally nice headliner lines the roof. This car was ordered with Tachometer and thedashuses individual gauge pods versus a standard cluster, aking it look more modern than other cars of the day. In those pods, actory gauges keep tabs on basic items such as speed, evs, uel, emperature, il pressure and voltage. Functions such as lights and windshield wipers are controlled by attractive chrome pulls, hile the AM radio sits just to the left of the ignition. Behind the cabin, nicely restored trunk features a correct style mat, pare tire and lug wrench.
