Description:

1979 Ferrari 308 308 GTS

This 1979 Ferrari 308 GTS is finished in Rosso Chiaro over tan leather and shows just over 45k miles.
Purchased in September 2013 and put under 2k miles on it.
The Weber-carbureted 2.9L F106AB V8 and 5-speed manual transaxle have received regular service over the past ten years including valve and carburetor adjustments, and replacement of the clutch, timing belt and water pump. Records from the previous owner are included. The body was refinished under previous ownership and a Birdman fusebox and aftermarket head unit are said to be the only modifications. This 308 GTS is now offered with service records, a fresh oil service, and a clean title in my name. The car was repainted in its correct Rosso Chiaro under previous ownership.
Factory Cromodora 14″ alloys looks good.
The dash pad and steering wheel are in good shape, and Veglia instrument faces are in good condition. The leather targa panel headliner matches the seat upholstery. The odometer shows 45,000 miles, with a little 2k miles added by me.
Seats are upholstered in tan leather with black inserts. A/C works good.
The 2.9L Tipo F016AB engine features four twin-choke Weber carburetors, and is paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. Power output for US-spec cars was 240 hp when new, and carburetors were discontinued the following year with a drop in power for fuel-injected 1980 cars. A Birdman fuse box is fitted. The last major belt service was 6 years and ~3k miles ago.
The following maintenance items have been addressed over the past ten years, and the car will be delivered with fresh oil and filter.
May 2009 @ 41k miles: Replacement of clutch and pressure plate, throwout bearing, pilot bearing, and clutch cable. Flywheel resurfaced.
January 2012 @ 42k miles: Valve clearances checked, compression checked, cam cover gaskets replaced.
April 2012 @ 42k miles: Engine-out service including replacement of the timing belts and water pump, with Hill Engineering bearings.
August 2012 @ 42,500 miles: NGK Iridium spark plugs installed
March 2013: Carburetors tuned and re-jetted.
