1968 Dodge Dart GTS Super Stock

If you happen to be a MOPAR or SUPER STOCK car fanatic, and are looking for a ‘turn-key’ race car that is ready for the drag-strip, you will want to take a very close look at this beauty!
‘Red Hills Rods & Classics’ is excited to offer you this gorgeous 1968 Dodge Dart GTS Super Stock Race Car! This is a seriously mean-machine folks! Originally a 1968 Dodge Dart GTS 383 that was turned into a Super Stock Drag Racer, this Dart GTS is finished in its original (Code T) Medium Green w/ black vinyl top & black Bumble Bee stripes, wrapped around its original black bucket seat interior. The original VIN tag and original Fender Tag are still in place, and have never been altered in any way. The car was largely untouched when the build took place, and besides one re-paint in the original Medium Green, the car was basically all original & unmolested before the conversion. The original body panels are straight & true throughout, and the Medium Green paint is shiny & bright w/ only a slight amount of aging. The fiberglass Super Stock hood, which looks quite ominous on this car, was added at the time of the paint job, as well as a new black vinyl top. All of the chrome & stainless trim is in great condition, and only showing slight wear. This Dart GTS has not been tubbed, and sits on 15” polished Weld Racing Mags, wrapped w/ Hoosier Drag Racing tires (28.0/9.0-15 on the rear & 26.0/4.5-15 up front). You can walk around this car a hundred times and you will not find a bad angle, period! The undercarriage is nicely detailed and shows the original floors, which are in outstanding condition throughout, as well as the TTI Performance exhaust system, beefed-up suspension w/ new shocks & springs, SSBC front disc-brakes, and other racing components that were installed (please look closely at the undercarriage photos to see how clean & nice it is, especially for a drag-racing car).
Open the driver’s door and you will find a mostly all original black vinyl bucket-seat interior that has only been modified w/ racing equipment where needed. The black bucket-seats, rear seat, door panels, kick panels, dash, etc., are all-original to the car and in excellent condition. A full heavy-duty roll-cage was installed, as well as a Turbo-Action Cheetah SCS Chrysler Shifter (specifically for 727 Torqueflite), dash-mounted Autometer tachometer & Super-Lite, column-mounted Autometer Sport Comp fuel pressure gauge, (3) under-dash Autometer Sport Comp gauges (oil pressure, oil temperature, water temperature), under-dash NOS gauge, overhead Painless switch box (fuel pump, electric fan, nitrous, & purge), and G-Force Racing Gear Pro-Series 5-point harnesses (driver & passenger). All electrical wiring is by Painless throughout. Again, the interior is original to the car and in excellent condition for being nearly 42 years old. The bare trunk area features the aluminum battery box, as well as the (2) 10-pound Nitrous-Oxide bottles. What else do you need?
Pop open the hood and nestled inside the nicely detailed engine bay resides a custom-built monster 499ci Mopar motor (400ci block bored & stroked to 499ci) that has been extensively built for brute power & massive torque. Rather than list all of the internal parts, I have highly-detailed build sheets on the motor which specify every nut & bolt that was used on the build. Only the best racing components were used on this motor. Any serious buyer can call us and we will provide this information. This wicked powerplant produces over 800hp, and close to 950hp when using NOS. The motor is linked to a heavily-built 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission, which is linked to a Dana 60 rear-end w/ 4:10 gears. Hit the fuel pump switch, and she fires up instantly settling into a nice smooth idle once warm. Needless to say, this Super Stock Dodge Dart is ‘extremely’ fast and consistently runs in the low 10-second range in the quarter mile, as well as mid 9-second range when using Nitrous. We have a stack of track slips w/ quarter mile times for this Dodge Dart GTS, and they are all ‘extremely’ impressive (see photos). Nearly $125,000 has been invested in this Super Stock Dart, as building a 'real' drag-racing car is anything but cheap. The car comes with a 3" binder full of receipts for parts (multiple dyno sheets included), as well as detailed build sheets on the motor and other components. Everyone who sees this Super Stock Dodge Dart goes nuts, and besides looking absolutely amazing, this Dart actually backs it up w/ outstanding performance!
Again, if you have been searching for a ‘turn-key’ race car that is ready to win trophies at any car event that you decide to enter, or one that will take your breath away at the drag-strip, you have found your car!
