RESTORED SS 396 4-SPD IN AUTUMN GOLD w/SADDLE INT. PWR STR & BRKS, EX. CON video

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396

This is an original 1970 Chevelle SS 396 in Autumn Gold metallic with black stripes and saddle vinyl interior. The Chevelle went through a total restored to its original numbers matching colors and options in the mid-1990’s and has been with the current owner for the past 20 years and 2000 miles.

According to the build sheet (see photo) everything is as it was when the SS rolled off the Atlanta Georgia assembly line except the original numbers matching engine. A 1971 396/402 cu. in. big block occupies the engine compartment (# T0513CLB11D183317, casting # 3969854).

Some of the factory options on the Chevelle include; an M-20 wide ratio Muncie 4-speed (Hurst linkage was installed); power disc brakes (front), Power steering; F41 heavy duty suspension with a 12-bolt open rear differential w/3.31:1 gears; 14 x 7 SS wheels w/stainless steel trim rings, cowl induction hood, and chromed outside mirrors. Additionally, it should be noted that factory style ‘spiral’ shocks are on all four corners, and the exhaust has resonators.

From all indications the 93000 miles showing on the odometer are original and most of the sheet metal is original. From the pictures of the restoration, little to no bodywork was done. With that said, the 20+ year 2-stage urethane paint job is showing areas of imperfection (see photos). There does not appear to be any rust and the floors, including the trunk, are solid.

All of the dash instruments work as normal and the reproduction Saddle seats are in very good condition. Carpeting is original color and excellent too.

The SS has been garage kept and was used primarily for local car shows. As great as the car shows it was never a ‘Trailer Queen’. It performs strong and runs great.
