1966 Chevrolet Corvette Restomod

This car is the perfect marriage of old and new. Like that old wedding rhyme, something old, something new, borrowed, and blue. Something old represents continuity, in this case the Corvette legacy. Something new, the future, or in this case, current technology. Something borrowed brings good luck, and something blue represented love or purity. Borrow something, maybe a set of driving gloves, and head on down the aisle, um road, with this car. You will love it! It is the...perfect marriage of old and new. Let's start with a few notes on that Corvette legacy. This car has a history traced back to the original purchase by a New York TV script writer from Rory Chevrolet in NY. Then in 1992, this car received a complete frame off restoration. The attention to detail and originality earned it high praise as well as awards from the National Corvette Restorers Society. The body of this Stingray coupe had received the expert attention of professionals who insured that all the big things as well as all the little things were right before recoating it in the original 986AA Silver Pearl paint. The factory side pipes are always an attention getter and a rare treat on any car. Like the body, they are meticulously restored and then installed properly adding to the first class look and presentation of the car. Finned aluminum knock-off wheels and gold wall tires are the icing on the cake and the whole package places this car in the cream of the crop of vintage Corvettes. Open the door and you will find a very neat and clean Black interior that breaks from originality in a couple areas, but does so with attention to detail and quality of workmanship that everyone should be able to appreciate. The door panels set the tone with thin chrome piping surrounding an upper panel containing the door lock, latch, and pull handle as well as the window crank, while a line of chrome highlights the armrest. A beefy, leather wrapped steering wheel is mounted on a chrome three-spoke hub with crossed racing flag center button. Behind it is a dash that has had updated gauges installed in the factory locations for a nice look and modern accuracy for monitoring critical engine functions as well as speed and RPM. The center console continues the stock look along with modern tech with a Retrosound radio and factory style A/C controls for the updated R134 air conditioning system. The seats are reupholstered beautifully and the shifter for a 4-speed automatic transmission hints at the upgrades to the drivetrain. Open the hood and you will find a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 motor nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. It looks so right in there with a cold air intake feeding the factory LS3 intake that even aftermarket engine tuners admit is hard to improve upon. The installation is all first class with attention to detail that makes it look like the factory did it, and the results are that everything works right and the performance is awesome. The power it makes flows back through a 4L60 transmission which works perfectly together with the power of the new engine. The rear end remains stock but was rebuilt and refreshed with new bushings during the frame off restoration which are still like new. As part of the LS3 conversion, the front end was upgraded to rack and pinion steering which is a wonderful thing for improved handling and precision steering feel on this car. The perfect marriage of something old and something new. Come on down and check out this awesome Corvette. You may want to borrow a set of driving gloves and wear some blue socks when you do.
