Description:

1968 Chevrolet Camaro LS1 Restomod

The Camaro was introduced as an all-new car on a completely new RWD platform in 1966 for the 1967 model year. This was to be Chevrolet's direct competitor to the wildly successful Ford Mustang. By 1968, the Camaro was gaining traction with the public and the 1968 year model received some minor styling updates but otherwise remained quite similar to 1967. Today, these cars bring with it a great platform to customize and make incredible one-of-a-kind rides. This 1968 Camaro... is extremely straight, solid, and ready to hit the road. It has been fully restored and customized into a fuel injected restomod. From the exterior, this car looks like a regular 1968 Camaro. Look a little more closely and you'll notice that it has shaved locks, emblems, and door handles as well as the front bumper. A longer look reveals more and more subtle custom work! The paint is lustrous and vibrant, a classic combination with the shiny Billet Specialties wheels. The front wheels are 17" and the rears are 18". Underneath the car is all sorts of fun handling upgrades such as tubular control arms and sway bars from Hotchkis Suspension, subframe connectors, SSBC four-wheel disc brakes, stainless exhaust, and a stainless fuel tank. To keep those ponies quiet, you'll find a set of Flowmaster mufflers under the car as well. This Camaro is equipped with an electric fuel pump to feed the fuel-injected LS1 V8 under the hood hooked up to Hedman Headers. Lift the hood and you'll be greeted by a fully detailed LS1 V8, with painted accents trying to camouflage it just a little bit better. A look at the underside of the hood reveals that it has been welded and smoothed to create a more modern, one-piece look. The trunk lid has been done in a similar fashion. This LS1 has Z06 bolt-ons and puts out approximately 430HP. The most common question we get on these LS1's is what did it come out of? In this case, this was pulled from a 2002 Camaro SS with approximately 23,000 miles. Then received the Z06 treatment. Step inside the Camaro, and suddenly it feels as if it is 1968 again-for a moment. The set of Autometer gauges molded into a custom dash quickly give it away! A glance to the floor will show a shifter for the 6-speed manual transmission out of the same Camaro as the LS1. The interior is in very nice condition with no damage to the seats or panels. The modern radio in the dash works at should. This car is as nice as it looks in the photos. It underwent a multi-year restoration that has been documented both in photos and paperwork. This Camaro is a turn-key cruiser, ready to go! It needs nothing but a new owner. There have been less than 3,000 miles racked up since the restoration was completed, and it has received minimal use since it was restored. Additionally, prior to restoration, the current owner got the car from a close friend who had owned it since 1977, Those two have kept tabs on this Camaro for a long time! If you're looking for a classic car with modern reliability and performance that still drives and feels like a classic, you need not look any further.
