Description:

1990 Chevrolet Camaro IROC

No reserve auction for a nice original 5.7 Liter 1990 IROC Z Camaro in code 81 bright red with 26835 miles. As most of you probably know 1990 was the last year for IROC production and only 2415 were made with the 350 /700 R4 before production stopped on 12/31/89. It was also the first and onlyyearfor an air bag in the drivers steering wheel and an updated dash with yellow silk screen instead of white in a IROC Z.According to the dealer invoice the car was ordered with the 5.7 Liter 350 engine, 700 R4 automatic transmission, gray custom cloth interior, rear window defrost, performance axle, which included 4 wheel disc brakes, dual catalytic convertors and a engine oil cooler, 16” aluminum wheels and IROC preferred equipment group #3, which included, air conditioning, AM/FM cassette, power windows, power drivers seat, power locks, cruise control, electric hatch release, power mirrors and front and rear floor mats. From what I’ve read T-Tops were not available on 5.7 IROC’s in 1990 due to a change in emissions requirements. The car was ordered new by Bob Rule Chevrolet in King, NC in October 1989 and sold to the original owner on 12/26/89 for $17550 before tax, title and license.Since the car was sold new in NC I have the entire title/mileage history of the car from new including a copy of the Certificate of Origin from GM to Bob Rule Chevrolet. The car was in NC until April 2008 when it was purchased by the gentleman I bought it from in Edgerton, WI.The owner in WI replaced the original Goodyear Gatorbacks with a set of Cooper Zeon tires since the Gatorbacks were starting to crack between the tread, unfortunately he didn’t keep the original tires. The muffler was also replaced while it was in WI but I believe everything else on the car is original.I bought the car in the spring of 2017 with 25069 and have done very little to the car except clean it up and enjoy it.I drove it up to northern WI this summer on our annual trip to Lake Superior and it performed flawlessly mechanically with the AC blowing ice cold the whole trip. The only issues I noticed on the trip is that the original speakers are getting week and the turn signals didn’t want to stay up or down sometimes when I was switching lanes. The car is in very nice shape for it’s age and appears to have been stored indoors all of its life since the weather striping and window seals still look new. When I bought the car I was told the car was all original paint but I believe the hood, roof and truck was re-cleared or painted under warranty which I’ve read was very common back in the late 80’s and early 90’sdue toGM paint quality issues. From six feet away, it looks like a new car but it does have one small ding under the molding at the back of the drivers door which is included in the pictures. The interior is in mint condition and still smells like a new car, there is no wear whatsoever on the silk screen on the turn signal, PW, PL switches or the radio. The dash is in perfect shape also.Under the hood it’s very clean as well, if you look close below the brake master cylinderit still has a little paper tag hanging off the combination valve. The under carriage looks just as nice as the rest of the car and appears to be completely original to me except for the muffler. Overall, I’d say this is a strong #2 car and a great IROC Z to just get in and drive or enjoy.I love this car but just bought a 69 SJ Grand Prix and will no longer have space for it since the restoration of my Mom’s 81 Z28 is almost done and its is scheduled to be sent back to me next week so I’ve got to make some room in the garage.I’d be willing to meet the winning bidder within two hours of my house or pick them up at the Des Moines Airport once a deposit is received. If you have any questions or want to come look at the car in person or have someone else inspect it feel free to call or email me anytime and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.Mynumber is six41-six60-4019.Thanks for looking and best of luck, Chad
