Price: - Item location: McHenry, Illinois, United States
Description:

1972 Chevrolet Nova SS L78/396

Body
The front and rear bumpers are in great condition. The trim around the windows are dull and should be polished. The paint needs to be wet-sanded and buffed due to imperfections in the paint. It appears it has an older paint job. There are chips and scratches so don't expect a show car. This is a driver. The hood and doors should be better aligned to the body to open and close properly. The doors have some minor paint bubbles as shown in the photos. The left door handle and drivers mirror are loose. It appears the quarter panels were replaced at some point. A brand new set of belt moldings come with the car. The body plate on the firewall shows paint code of 26 which appears to be Mulsanne Blue. The car is now white. The interior code appears to be 753 which is black bucket interior.

Interior
Appears new front seat covers were installed. New sill plates installed. It has the factory tachometer in dash. Aftermarket gauges should be mounted securely to lower dash as they are loose. Drivers seat sits close to steering wheel. Not sure if they are that way from factory or I am just too big for the car. I am including driver seat extenders that will allow the seat to move back 2". Headliner needs to be replaced. Brand new headliner comes with the car. The tachometer radio and wiper switch do not appear to work.

Engine
This car original came with a L48/350 engine. It has been replaced with a built 396 big block Chevrolet engine. It has a Milodon oil pan headers alum intake modified carburetor and a newer radiator Engine runs strong but the carburetor should be replaced. It is hard to start when cold because there is no choke on the carburetor. It has a new battery air cleaner valve covers and a washer jug.

Transmission Axle Wheels & Exhaust
I was told by the previous buyer that the transmission is a M21 Muncie 4-speed with a 10 bolt posi axle with 3:73 gears. The car appears to have new springs in the rear glass packs Flowmaster pipes and AC Delco air shocks. The car has real SS rims (coded YA). They are in excellent condition. The BF Goodrich tires have about 1/2 tread on them.

Trunk & Floor Pans
The floor pans and rockers look nice and solid overall. The trunk floor pan was replaced at some point. The fuel tank strap mounting bracket (driver's side) should have been replaced when the trunk pan was installed. This might be something the new buyer may want to do at some point. New trunk mat was installed with new spare tire hold down hardware.
