1969 Chevrolet Corvette

The BF Goodrich L88/ZL1 Greenwood race car may just be the most significant and storied of all the L88s that came from General Motors in those three short years and its accomplishments in both racing and show awards are indisputable.

This 1969 Corvette is listed as a ZL-1, L-88 clone as there is no documentation. Research on the internet shows only one 69 ZL1 exists with documentation.Research also shows they claim now seven69's may have left the factory with the ZL1 engine, est cars etc..The car has all the characteristics of a ZL-1 or L-88. I added a few of the production numbers belowto showhowrare it is.

PT7 white stripe nylon tires, 70/15 2 ply.

This rare package also included a special aluminum radiator and radiator support which this car has.

This car was said to have a all aluminum 427 engine that failed in the 70s and was then replaced with the next best thing available at that time which was theLS7. The current engine block suffix is XCH which would have been a over the counter GM performance catalog item LS7. Rare GM snow flake aluminum 074 L88/ZL1 heads are still on it. Appears to be correct matching number transmission as well as differential. F-41 suspension, nbsp;69 on rear shocks (see pictures). Factory side exhaust, adio delete. Lights and windshield wipers are working.There is a old photo of the car showing the flares on it long ago. Original 972 can am white with original 421 SL interior. The stars and stripes are painted onand looks incredible! There is a photo showing the drivers door jamb that still has the original paint and sticker. 32k miles, he undercarriage is unrestored and has no rust.

The original #49Greenwood car was delivered new as a factory L88 Corvette before becoming one of three “Stars & Stripes” team cars sponsored by BF Goodrich (BFG) during the 1971-1973 seasons. Numbered #49, hey were initially slated for promotional use by BFG, lthough quickly converted to racing specification and powered by one of the last Traco-built ZL-1 motors. Driven by top road course drivers of the period, ncluding John Greenwood, ob Johnson, ick Smothers and Don Yenko, ts initial major win was a first place in the GT class in 1972 at the Watkins Glen six-hour race. In 1973, he #49 “Stars & Stripes” BFG team car raced in the trifecta of FIA events: the 12 Hours of Sebring, he 24 Hours of Daytona, nd the 24 Hours of Le Mans, here it set the GT speed record of 215 mph on the Mulsanne straight in qualifying.
