1966 Cadillac DeVille Convertible Black Exterior / Light Gold Leather Interior Well Documented, Known History Powered Convertible Top 156,300 Actual Miles VIN: F6167499 Engine: 429ci V8, Date Correct, Presumed Original (1482586) Transmission: TH400, Rebuilt and Installed at 86k Miles (AA-65-123824) Paint: Antique Gold (44) Top: Sandalwood (6) Trim: Light Gold Leather (384) Accessories: Soft Ray Glass (E), Power Front Seat Adjuster (Y), Automatic Climate Control (K) We purchased this ‘66 DeVille Convertible out of western Minnesota, where the car had been with the same owner for the last fifteen years. According to records with the car, this appears to have been the third owner. Originally delivered to Escondido, CA in late October of ‘65, the car spent the overwhelming majority of its life with a farmer in North Dakota, and under his ownership the car was actually used to drive the Governor of North Dakota in all of the annual parades. Current mileage of 156k is believed to be actual; records show an engine rebuild in 1976, a transmission rebuild in 1983 at 86k miles, and an oil change in 1998 at 93,471 miles. As it sits now, this is a solid, well-optioned, driver-level DeVille Convertible that is ready for a new owner. Exterior: - Please see the video along with the listing, as the car is shown in detail. Blemishes are all shown close-up. Most significant blemishes include a couple big scratches on the driver’s rear quarter, some bubbling along the driver’s rocker panel, as well as a number of smaller chips and scratches. - Originally Antique Gold on Light Gold Leather, the car saw a repaint in black many years ago. Interior remains unchanged. Respray was B level. Very much presentable, but it’s older so it does show its age in places. “Driver-level”. - Panel fitment is spot on, and the doors open and close nice and smoothly. Polished surfaces are all in great shape. Mirror-like finish. No oxidation on the bumpers or trim. - Glass is clear and crack-free. Signals are all functional. - Powered black convertible top is in excellent shape and is functional. No punctures, no significant signs of age to note. - Hubcaps are in great shape, with no curb rash or wrinkles. The car will also come with a second very nice set of the same hubcaps. Tires are older and should be replaced sooner rather than later. Not cracked and bald, but older than they should be. Interior: - Again, please defer to the photos and video. Interior is in nice condition but shows its age a bit. The light gold leather has discolored a bit, having almost a bit of pink hue to it. Seats have some scuffs and creases. Door panels have a couple little markings but overall are very nice. Powered windows are functional, as is the powered top. Carpet is excellent throughout, not discolored or fraying. Dash top has a crack on the passenger’s side. Speedometer, odometer, and temp gauge are functional. Fuel gauge stays pegged. Analog clock is not functional. Automatic climate control works….R12 air conditioning compressor kicks on but does not blow cold, heat and fan are functional. Radio is not functional. Mechanical / Underbody: - Please take a look through the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. Driver’s rear floor was patched at some point. Aside from that, underbody looks quite good. Nice and dry, just surface rust on various suspension components. We do note some drips of oil when the car sits following exercise. Not enough to be super concerning, but enough to want to put something down so to not stain your garage floor. - Car runs and drives quite well. If it has been sitting for an extended period of time you’ll need to dump a little fuel in the carb to kick-start things, but once it’s started it runs beautifully. The car idles low, steady, cool, and quiet. Pulls hard through the gears without any stuttering or hesitation, shifts smoothly and on-time. The car goes into gear nice and smoothly, without any clunking. The car tracks straight under acceleration and braking. Power steering is nice and light, doesn’t whine or squeal. We’d replace the tires before long and just enjoy the car as-is. With any further questions, requests, or to discuss purchasing, please reach out to Jake at 773-303-6122.
