Description:

1966 Buick Electra

The Buick Electra was introduced to the public in 1959 and carried the brand through 1990 replacing the Roadmaster and Limited models upon introduction. The 225 moniker was added to represent the 225 inch length of the car overall, earning the nickname "deuce and a quarter" by enthusiasts. With styling changes over its 30 year run, it was 1965 when the chassis design went to a perimeter frame, exiting the traditional x-frame used from 1961. This made for a lighter car, and the need for additional tuning to the suspension. For 1966, the entire advertising promotion lead with the Electra being emphasized as the "Tuned Buick"; tuned performance, tuned ride, tuned handling, and most importantly, tuned styling! It would be the final year of the ever popular Buick Wildcat 401ci Nailhead V8 engine as well. These cars represent a unique era in Buick production, and are among the best years for mid-1960's American car collectors. Class, style, power, and comfort all rolled into one!
