Description:

1941 Buick Century

For sale is “Black Beauty”, a 1941 Buick Century model 61 (see data plate photo) 4-door fastback survivor with 61,000 miles. The car is a true time capsule and is about original as can be expected, all the way down to travel stickers and oil change stickers from the 40’s and 50’s. Black Beauty was sold new to the Luxford family in Grand Rapids in the spring of 1941 and was owned by that family until 2011 (58,830 miles). It is powered by the straight eight Fireball 320ci 165hp with Compound Carburetion (rare factory dual carbs). America’s first hotrod? Even the Cadillac only had 150hp. Everything is original down to the carpet and seats, save for the tires. We believe the trunk sparemay beone of the original tires on the car. The original jack and tool kit are still in the trunk. The car starts and runs great and the column-shift transmission shifts as it should. She will go down the highway almost effortlessly at 80mph. Oil pressure and engine temp are proper. The doors open and close solidly and correctly. About the only thing we know that has issues is the original AM radio (FM was not around). It will hum but has difficulty picking up stations and might be a simple fix. The chrome brightwork haspitting and the paint is not perfectbut onlyone spot of rust, a hole just behind the LR door. All interior lenses and lights are original and are not cracked or brittle. The interior shows the normal wear and tear of a 75-year-old automobile. See photos for all the details. Black Beauty could be restored to true show, but would likely appreciate in value faster as a survivor. Contact John (seller)with questions or more photos.
