1965 Austin Healey 3000 MK III

The final version of the of the "Big Healey" six-cylinder cars was the BJ8, introduced in 1963 and built during the last four years of production. The BJ8 proved to be the most refined Healey to date as roll up windows, a wood dash and a rear seat were added to the 3000 Series Austin Healey. The three liter inline engine boasted 150 horsepower aided by two SU HD8 Carburetors. The 4 speed manual transmission features an overdrive setting in...gear 3 and 4. All this works together producing a top speed in excess of 115mph. GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this very original, unmolested 1965 Austin Healey 3000 MKIII BJ8 for consideration. The car is attractively finished in silver metallic paint over its blue interior with gold piping. The car shows 79625 miles on the odometer and given the excellent original presentation of the car, these miles are believed to be original. The exterior does appear to have received a repaint many years ago; the trim, bumpers, grille, bright work, wire wheels all appear to be original and un refurbished. The bonnet, door fit and deck lid all exhibit excellent body fit indicating that the car has never been taken apart. The interior remains highly original, if not all original. The original seating material remains excellent still retaining the factory gold piping, the original wood dash, original signature banjo style steering wheel, console, carper, smiths gauges, shifter, trim and bright word remains excellent showing the perfect amount of patina. Other highlights include original full tonneau, the top apprears to have been replaced at one time and is excellent, and the unrestored frame and underside shows excellent with excellent structural integrity. Mechanically, this Healey is extremely fit. The 3.0 liter inline 6 cylinder engine is very healthy, runs very smooth and pulls strong. The 4 Speed with overdrive transmission shifts precisely, the suspension remains tight and steering it true. It is important to note, that this is not a show car. This is a consistently well -maintained car that remains highly original in many many areas. The structure is excellent throughout, the drivability is wonderful and this Healey is priced to sell. The car also has a file with previous owner history with hand written letters back and forth with perspective buyers, service history, old photos etc. A great, unmolested example offered here.
