Description:

1959 AMC Rambler

OK sorry about the long title but let’s be honest nobody finds a ’59 Rambler on purpose so I need all the search words I can get. I figured the “Unicorn” thing will bring in the most views.

If you like to talk to random people at the gas station this is a good car for you. I’m actually surprised how many people know what a Rambler is and enjoy talking about it. I mean it says “Rambler” on the back but reading comprehension skills are pretty low in this area so it’s still impressive.

I had a girl smile at me when I was driving down I70 yesterday; I’m not that attractive so I figured the car was a good boost. So there’s that.

Body: 1959 Rambler Classic. It’s not perfect. Seals leak it has some rust spots on the outside and there are some rust holes on the floor. I made a portion of the back floor to clear the suspension but got tired of the floor thing and left the holes in the front. Your toddler won’t fall through though I’m fairly certain.

Interior: Yes. It has one sorta. The robot fleece seat cover is my favorite part.

Suspension: Full air ride with 8 3/8” SMC valves Air Lift bags and some kinda controller. I don’t remember the controller name but it makes the car go up and down all fancy-like and that’s enough for me. The rear suspension is a scratch-built two link with a cross bar. I split 2X3 tube in half to make the bars an “I” shape to allow a bit of side movement. Message me for more details on how I made it all work with the unibody I can geek out about it for entirely too long.

Driveline: 350 Chevy from a ’91 Chevy. I threw it right in and left it greasy and gross it’s not a show car I didn’t care how it looked as long as it works. The tranny is a rebuilt 700R4 with new tranny cooler and whatnots. The radiator is a new aluminum piece. The rear axle is from ’92 Ford Explorer.

Brakes: The front brakes have been converted to disc using a Squarebird conversion kit. It uses easy off-the-shelf parts which is pretty handy. I also converted it to power brakes with all new lines Wilwood residual valves and proportioning valve. I used to tell people I enjoyed doing brake lines but I think I may have been lying.

Wheels: 17” Steelies from a 2009-ish Charger. New tires. Fancy hubcap clips adapted to the wheels to make the stock Rambler caps to fit.

I built this car to thrash on and drive whenever I can. So far I’ve put maybe a thousand miles on it it cruises down the highway quite nicely. I wouldn’t hesitate to jump in and drive this for a few hours. I’m really not in a hurry to sell or anything but I have a couple other projects that I’d like to focus on.

If you buy it I'm willing to drive it and meet you somewhere if you'd like within a couple hours at least. I'd prefer cash in person.

If you’re interested feel free to send me a message I’ll give you my number.I’m sure I’m missing plenty of details in the description.I’ll point out all the flaws I can think of because I’m the world’s most terrible salesman. We can talk about books and the Roosevelts instead of cars if you’d like.

Edit:

I forgot in to mention in the description earlier that I haven't tried to hook up the wipers or the heater. I just haven't cared enough to mess with it I've just been rolling with Rain-X.

The speedo isn't hooked up either I know a Lokar cable will bolt right in but I'm happy just using my GPS because I know it will be accurate and the lady's voice on my GPS is kinda hot.

I'll try to think of other things that are wrong with it as I go it's important to me that everyone knows that I am way too straightforward to sell cars or be a politician.
